Comment - According to contribs, Chatterjee nominated the page Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit for deletion. I nominated the page Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism to be deleted because it seems to be basically the same as Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit and is much less active. I edited the "Randallrobinstine" page a while back along with all the other vandal subpages to add them to Category:Wikipedia vandalism and cleaned the pages up a bit if they needed it. I am not Chatterjee or Randallrobinstine. If the fact that I am a fairly new user and yet was familiar with how Wikipedia works from the start is suspicious (as another user who accused me of being a sock before pointed out), it is because I have edited Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects before as anon prior to creating this account.-- Azer Red Si? 23:00, 12 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Do you have the diff for the user who raised that as a newbie you were suspicially familiar with Wikipedia? I ask because I did raise this with Dr Chatterjee (that he was overly familiar with CV policy) but can't see where it has been raised with you. Can you please check user Lorrainier ( talk + · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser( log) · investigate · cuwiki). He has been active in Vandalism pages only a few days of editing and he has also nomited servel pages realting to vandal subpages [2] [3]. He has also edit pages realting to bobby boulders [4]. A blatant Bobby sock, however accumulated 166 edits as of posting. I'm not looking very deeply into his contributions, but: active for past 11 days (registered for 22); 93% of contributions out of mainspace; has been Bobby tagging ( [5] vs. [6]); nom of Category:Counter-Vandalism Unit members for CFD ( [7]); the signature subtle irony ( "these attention freaks", "damned CVU page", "against others wanting to deny recognition"); and, just a three minute gap between the last contribution of Jorge Rodriguesss today (21:21, Sp:Con) and the first contribution of Lorrainier today (21:24, Sp:Con) (Jorge Rodriguesss another Bobby sock). ~ PseudoSudo 22:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC) (emphasis added ~ PseudoSudo 19:36, 17 September 2006 (UTC)) reply

I'd appreciate a cross with Jorge Rodriguesss; that three minute gap between contribs on September 7th is too convincing to pass up. Dr Chatterjee

Dr Chatterjee has been extremely active recently in arguing for the deletion of the projectspace page Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit. Evidence leads me to suspect he has spawned at least three sockpuppets, Funkyzeit, Rustag, and Mister Righteous, which if confirmed would leave him in violation of:

  1. WP:SOCK#Voting and other shows of support, in using sockpuppets to create an illusion of broader support for a position than actually exists
  2. WP:SOCK#Circumventing policy, in using sockpuppets to evade a page-ban

  • matching edit summary between Funkyzeit and Mister Righteous ("grammar"), here: [9], [10]
  • 71.107.251.78 is definitively the logged-out address of Rustag and Mister Righteous; out of 71.107.251.78's three most recent edits:
  • a link also seems to be present between Dr Chatterjee and the sockpuppets with respect to similarities in writing style and wikisyntax usage: as one example, Dr Chatterjee has linked to the page Wikipedia:Vandalism multiple times using a bare or piped link pointing to the (unusual) WP:Vandalism; ( [11], [12]) Funkyzeit is the only other user on the three pages to also do so. ( [13])

It has been suggested to Dr Chatterjee on his talk page that he seems to have more policy knowledge than the average user that has been around for a month's time; the possibility exists that Dr Chatterjee himself is a sockpuppet of an existing established user. If such is the case, and additionally the sockpuppet is illegit (i.e. the master sockpuppeteer is in fact also involved in the debates), then revealing of the master account name would seem appropriate as well.

Let's denote User:Lorrainier, another SPA with behavior very very similar to chatterjee. In any case, its most definately a single purpose account. It started right off with keen interest in vandalism-related pages. Retagged User:Bobby Boulders as {{ BB}}, a few days after Cyde got rid of most of the bobby boulders related material after finding it was tied to pagemove vandalism (hence willy-related) [14]. May also be Randallrobinstine, insted. The page was expanded by Lorrianer, including creating a redirect for it [15] yet despite panning for deletion of other LTA subpages, including tagging user subpages for speedy deletion, [16] [17] has not touched this one. I'll understand if this is believed to be fishing, though is may some of the last of it. ANI talked about rooting out a medium-sized support sockfarm from these pages, so those are mostly gone I hope. Kevin_b_er 15:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC) reply
