The edit complained of to Six Day War [1] made May 29, 2005 by Yuber ( talk · contribs) added the language "These settlements have continuously grown in number in the territories, despite being illegal under international law." to a paragraph which included information on settlements on the West Bank. His editorial comment was "RV, how is that POV?." This had been reverted without comment by Guy Montag ( talk · contribs) [2]. It had originally been inserted by the anonymously editor 164.107.198.192 ( talk · contribs) [3]. Guy Montag again reverted with the comment "there is an active discussion of the legality of the so called Israeli settlements in the article itself. Nowhere does it firmly establish that it is illegal under international law. That is POV." In addition to his revert Guy Montag replaced the word "occupied" with "conquered" [4]. "Occupied" was then reinserted by John Z ( talk · contribs) based on the language used in U.N. Security Council Resolution 242 Text of 242 [5]. Guy Montag then reverted to "conquered" with the comment "unless it is a direct quote, it is a pov word and doesnt belong in the article" [6]. John Z reverted, say it was a quote [7]. At this point Guy Montag seems to have accepted use of "occupied" and Yuber seems to have accepted removal of his language about growth of illegal settlements. The article is quiet until the anonymous editor 24.112.47.222 ( talk · contribs) on June 4, 2005 inserted the language "In the Golan Heights, an estimated 80,000 Syrians were forced to flee." which Guy Montag promptly reverted without comment [8]. Yuber then queried regarding the reason for removal and added additional casualty figures [9]. Guy Montag again removed the offending language and requested a source [10]. Yuber again restored information and added a source [11]. Guy Montag then replaced "forced to flee" with "fled" [12]. That seemed to be acceptable to Yuber. On June 10, 2005 Yuber made an edit to the introductory paragraph of the article, replacing "During the war, Israel gained control of the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights." with "As a result of the war, Israel seized control of the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights." [13]. This was immediately reverted by Guy Montag with the comment "rvt pov" [14]. Revert by Yuber [15]. John Z then proposed a compromise [16]. This seems to have satisfied the parties. None of these edits were discussed on Talk:Six-Day War.
