While I am greatly honored to receive this nomination, I feel I must respectfully decline at this time.
Having read through the entire reading list, as well as browsing the two backlogs, I can see that there are a lot of things that I could do to help ease the administrative workload around here, and, I admit, that does appeal to me (I'm a pretty helpful sort of person). However, I feel that my current emphasis of improvement on articles related to the various food and drink WikiProjects (especially mixed drinks, herbs & spices, soft drinks, and ice cream), development WikiProjects ( templates and userboxes), my contributions at Commons and WikiBooks, along with my work in the Mediation Cabal, Adopt-a-User, WikiProject Council, and the Kindness Campaign, already keep me quite busy. If also I took on admin duties, I would be spreading myself too thin.
Before taking on a new task, I like to be sure that I can do it well. While I am fairly certain I would be technically able to undertake the duties of an admin, at this time, I do not feel it would be the best use of my skills at this particular time. I would not want to disappoint anyone by turning in a poor performance.
If there were a way to become a demi-admin, so that I could make certain types of admin-only edits on articles within the scope of the articles I mentioned, then that would be great. I do hate adding to the backlog by having to ask other admins to do work I feel confident I could do on my own (moves, merges, deletions of prods and speedy deletes, rollbacks, etc.). Of course, since I actively edit articles within that scope, it could also lead to claims of abusing my powers. No, declining this nomination is the best choice at this time.
Thank you for considering me, though. :-) -- Willscrlt ( Talk· Cntrb) 01:42, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
