  13. Coolcat is on probation and is mentored, it would be reasonable to think that he should be given the chance to prove he can change during this probation period. After that, if he shows any changes, and above all, if he deal with his character instability we’ll see. First and foremost, one must be a good contributor before anything else, before being an Administrator, and Coolcat has now the chance to revaluate his participation and become a good and uncontroversial contributor. It would be a disservice to Coolcat to disturb his rehabilitation by granting him Adminship. Fadix 21:26, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply

In one of his notorious moods, CoolCat decided that adding a copyvio to Wikipedia would be fun. RickK tried to stop him before deciding that having to deal with this level of utter stupidity was a step too far. Ambi 07:51, 29 October 2005 (UTC) reply
No I cannot be held responsible for RickK's departure. No fair court will deliberately sentence someone for somebody elses actions. I did write the original material and did not know it was somewhat popular on the net. I did not provide copyvio info so as not to comprimise my identity, instead I rewrote the whole thing, making it more article like than burochure like.
Please, do not ever speak in my name, I never claimed/said/implied/decided that adding a copyvio to Wikipedia would be fun. I have notified WP:CP of tens of copy vio cases. I also wrote a bot that detects a good number of copy vio cases so I deserve some credit for even more copy vio reporting.
I have had and still dont have any conflict with RickK. In the incident RickK revert warred with User:SPUI not me. You cant provide a single diff of me reverting RickK. RickK also deleted the page without posting it on Cvio page and wait for 7 days. Given only one paragraph (2,3 sentences) on the entier page I think it is most certainly not the best desicion to delete the entier page. RickK should have listed it on Cvio page for 7 days as the new version was almost completely different from the first version. In any case I rewrote that paragraph later on (after digging the page from google chache with great effort). I needed someone to point out what was posing to be a copy vio. I simply rewote that section in a time period no more than 1-3 minutes (primarily because of lag).

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Vanndal fighting. I do not want to venture into other areas just yet. I just want to be able to block sockpuppets of User:MARMOT and be able to edit my userpage (which got vandalised about 466 times so far) when its protected. -- Cool Cat Talk 19:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A.
  1. Starfleet Ranks and insignia: First complete page. I think it looks beultifull and is informative. I do not deserve all oif the credit User:Husnock deserves a greater credit and it was very very pleasant to work with him.
  2. Ranks and Insignia of NATO: This was a did on my own. I never completed the Navy and Air Force etc ranks as this requires overwhelming time for just one user to handle (with over 1000 images that need to be uploaded). If I am offered assistance of course it can be done :)
  3. Southeastern Anatolia Project Written from scratch. Looks nice and is informative. I'd like to note there was a copyvio contravercy regarding this.
  4. Wikipedia:Counter Vandalism Unit With about 50+ members I think this is a sucessfull ongoing project. I created it initialy just to paste my IRC vandal detection bot and gave the bot a fancy name: Counter Vandalism Unit. Essjay and several others gave the idea to make this more of a gathering ground. I think its nice.
  5. Oh My Goddess!. I reorganised it and added sections in manyways redid the whole thing. I had some assistance as well, it was pleasant to work with other people.
-- Cool Cat Talk 19:32, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I havent been writing articles recently primarily because of my on going dispute with Davenbelle and Karl Meier (Stereotek). Nature of this dispute as far as Arbcom is concerned is avalible at: Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Coolcat, Davenbelle and Stereotek. -- Cool Cat Talk 19:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply

So it is with regret that I oppose the adminship of a hardworking editor whos only crime is a few blind spots. -- Gmaxwell 20:54, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  12. Oppose. This line of chat bothered me:
The last line of the chat is what bothers me. Since when is AngryParsley a troll? He was merely stating the truth. -- WikiFanatic Talk Contribs 16:16, 23 October 2005 (CDT)
To be fair it should be said that early this morning when AngryParsley first came into IRC and he heard Cool Cat had said he was leaving, he expressed happiness at the event, and cheerfully provided a pile of nonspecific criticisms of Cool Cat without even hearing about the situation. It's clear that Angry doesn't like him and if I were in Cool Cat's position I might also be somewhat more eager to call Angry a troll. -- Gmaxwell 21:51, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  14. Oppose per all above. freestylefrappe 21:34, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  15. Oppose User is conflict-prone, not admin material. Xoloz 22:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  16. Oppose. Unfortunately, the editor has gotten himself involved in an exceptional amount of conflicts, and thus should not be given sysop rights. -- Sn0wflake 23:32, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  17. Oppose, he can probably become admin at some point in the future, but I'm not willing to grant adminship to someone who's under mentorship as result of an arbcom decision. - Mgm| (talk) 13:35, 24 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  18. Oppose. When hell freezes over would be too soon. Coolcat is a regular edit warrior whose "mood swings" have cost us several editors, including one of the best we've ever had. I'd still personally rather see him banned. Ambi 00:30, 25 October 2005 (UTC) reply
You know, I've seen this mentioned several times, but nobody ever named any names. Care to give any examples on whom Cool Cat chased away? -- Nlu 04:48, 25 October 2005 (UTC) reply
    see: Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2005-06-27/Article blocking.
And? This article under this link has nothing to do with Cool Cat. I asked for specific examples of Cool Cat chasing away editors. If Cool Cat had something to do with RickK leaving, please clarify; otherwise, this is irrelevant. -- Nlu 13:05, 26 October 2005 (UTC) reply

Neutral

  1. Neutral Support- if it weren't for the Arbcom business, I would have no problem supporting CC, since my experiences working on the Oh My Goddess! article and on IRC have been uniformly positive. -- Maru (talk) 20:51, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  2. Changed to Neutral I'm concerned about the outbursts I've witnessed on IRC. Ac e tic ' Acid 20:56, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  3. Strong Neutral: If it was on content, my vote would be a Strong Support for Coolcat. If it was on behavior, my vote would be Strong Oppose. So, I guess it evens out. He's definately an asset to Wikipedia, but needs to work on his cool. Karmafist 21:58, 23 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  4. Changed to neutral. Cool Cat must control his mood swings before he can become an admin. Vandal busting has already been taken care of (in form of CVU), so a little patience will definitely not hurt. Don Diego (Talk) 12:35, 24 October 2005 (UTC) reply

  • Some people have voted against cool_cat more than once. To my understanding you can only vote once for a person per rfa. -- Adam1213☺ Talk + 14:52, 24 October 2005 (UTC) reply
Who opposed more than once? Could you be more specific than "some people"? Carbonite | Talk 14:55, 24 October 2005 (UTC) reply

Please note that User:Davenbelle just added some info to the top of the RFA. I disagree with the edit so am moving to the comments section.

I did add the link to the previous RfA — days ago, along with my original vote. User:Cool Cat added the link to the RfAr. I added a linebreak and bullets in the edit you're referring to (and I'm outta here with out further comment). —  Davenbelle 11:11, 27 October 2005 (UTC) reply
