Tvaughn05 ( talk · contribs) – Well, it sure won't hurt to try. I have been a registered user since June, however I forgot my password, and I opened this account in December. I have about 1230 edits, a lot are fighting vandalism. That is definately my main reason for becoming an administrator, I could definately use the Admin Rollback feature. However, I also contribute to many different articles, I try not to concentrate on just one area, I try to edit the whole encyclopedia =). I uploaded about 35 different images! I am always sure to read both sides of a debate before making a decision. Also, I know that there is no way that I would abuse my powers, I will be sure to use them fairly, and I will be sure to get another admin's opinion before I make any controversial decisions. Thank you. Tvaughn05 e (Talk) (Contribs) 01:52, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Support

  1. Support Unlikely to abuse admin tools. However, I am afraid your RfA would not be too successful based on comments by other users. -- S iva1979 Talk to me 07:57, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Oppose

  1. Oppose. It is hard to know how to handle your old account, but it is difficult to srutinise the edits by it since there is no proof that it's you. With only significant month of editing under this account, that makes judging your history quite hard. The answer to question 1, however, reveals a misunderstanding of what adminning is. Anyone can do all the things in question 1, and being an admin does not imbue you with any additional capabilities in that regard. Perhaps spend a little longer learning what the additional buttons do and then decide whether you really wnat them. Hint: it's a bit like mopping a dirty bathroom floor for several hours a day. Editing, well, that's like putting in shiny new enamel and repainting and rewallpapering the walls. Much more fulfilling. - Splash talk 02:19, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply
My old username was Tvaughn, I also made many anonymous edits before creating that account. I understand that being admin does not help me with those sysop chores, however, I mainly wish to be an administrator to fight vandalism, because I believe that I am a good vandal fighter, and I want to help the members of Wikipedia even more. Thank you for your vote, I feel as though I understand it better. Tvaughn05 e (Talk) (Contribs) 02:25, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply
Part of my point was that the things you list are not sysop chores. They are simply editing. I'm prepared to believe that the previous account is yours; however it has minimally many edits. - Splash talk 02:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply
  2. Oppose - erm, you do not need to be an administrator to work on editing, which is what this user's responses to the questions indicate (s)he would like to do. In addition, I'm afraid reputations follow accounts, not editors around. The "old account, lost password" argument won't hold much water with a lot of people. I'm not discounting it as possible, but it isn't a metric one can use reliably. Rob Church ( talk) 02:20, 14 February 2006 (UTC) reply

Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
A. As for sysop chores, I personally would love to work more on Articles that need to be wikified, and stubs. I would also like to concentrate on NPOV, and requests.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am particularly proud of Slingshot57, (which I hope, one day, will become a featured article), and Fr. John Corapi. I do a lot of contributions to music (especially country music), and book articles.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I have been in a few conflicts, where the vandal was stating that Wikipedia was run by fascists. ( See his talk page) I was writing a response, when another user (I think an admin), was able to resolve the problem with him. I had planned on basically stating the same thing that the admin said. I would probably try and handle any problem by myself, and if needed, I would get another admin in there, because I am not that eloquent.
