I split my time here about 20/80 between writing and janitorial work, and I believe that having access to sysop powers would make the latter task a bit easier for me. I also would like to become more involved with some of the various deletion pages, and be able help other users with requests (page protection, moves, etc.). I joined Wikipedia in May 2004, but didn't become really active until late October. I figure my "numbers" at around 5 months and 1500+ edits.

Seems a responsible and calming editor, although I prefer as admins those who do more writing. I like the willingness to explain reverts on talk pages.

Support. Definitely. I've seen Scott do quite a bit of janitorial work, and the proverbial mop and bucket would be an aid. I'm not too concerned about the oppose votes below: it looks like he's modified his signature and while I think that working on a featured article is a good sign for potential administrators, I don't feel that not working on one is a point against them. —

Relatively few edits, but what is there is good enough.

Support. Another name I'm familiar with from his janitorial work. His true edit count is certainly much higher than listed (dedicated New Page patrollers always have skewed edit counts due to marking nonsense for deletion). Seems calm, personable and knowledgeable of WP policies. To his credit, he prominently includes a declaration of bias on his user page, but maintains NPOV edits.

Support. Same reasons as SWAdair above. The comment for ABCD few items up applies as well.

Seems good enough to me.

Dislike that he
transcludes his signature -- Well that's easy to fix. Given the recent server trouble, I think I will.

Questions for the candidate A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
A. I spend most of my time on the
new pages page, so I'm well aware of the constant barrage of junk that get thrown at Wikipedia. It would be nice to be able to speedy delete some of it (only those pages nominated by others, of course).
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. It's rare that I write whole articles, though my favorite exception to that is
Saline Valley, California. Most of my significant contributions consist of cleaning up and adding to stubby and/or poorly written articles, like
Pioche, Nevada (see
my changes).
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
A. I once tried mediating a bit at
Ron Paul, but ultimately decided to stay away from political disputes. I was involved with the VfD against
Universism, to the point that I believe the article creator holds it against me personally. Also, I am currently involved in the RfAr against
Iasson. While I may have made an enemy or two, I seek to avoid conflicts, and I feel that I have acted in the best interests of the project in all of these situations.
