Aranda56 ( talk · contribs) – I wasn't really planning to ever self-nominate but I really think I could be a good admin and a late serge of vandalism which Im being affected by make me want to nominate much earlier than expected . I could normally be found around in VFD and doing heavy RC Patrol which I both do alot and I already done some admin type work like closing Keep VFDs and I also do some cleanup of articles and removing of POV as well. I try to be a fair editor who normally avoid conflicts. I do my best to listen and I generally go with my own opinion instead of others . I have around 1200 edits in just over a month which is not too much, but also not is too little. I don't know if Im going to be accepted or no cause of time I only been here 1 and a half months and I also got slight consern over my first 2 edits in here as well over a month back. 2 Pages which I done vandalism while I was a clueless newbie but I hope that u guys help forgive my mistakes and Im ready to yield a mop and busket. And I also hope that you can judge me in the quality of my edits more than their number. -- JAranda | yeah 05:23, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply

Oppose

Votes to delete articles in full knowledge there is no consensus to do so, [1], pointlessly forcing others to show up and vote keep to prevent this. Kappa 06:40, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  • Withdrawn, he doesn't even seem to acknowledge that wasting people's time and trying to get things deleted without consensus might be a problem but I'm a softhearted guy. Kappa 14:38, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  • Just to provide some context for our readers this is a reference to the school wars going on in AfD where Aranda is giving a delete opinion for non-notable schools (as the deletion argument goes) and kappa is giving an opinion to keep pretty much all schools. Quite heated, but I didn't expect it to get dragged into RfA as its mostly just a gentlemen's disagreement as it were. Ryan Norton T | @ | C 07:49, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  • Kappa, I'm not sure I understand your remarks. You appear to be saying that if someone looks at an AfD and the first 10 people have voted delete then I should too just because thats the current consensus. Also where and how exactly did he force others to turn up and vote keep? CambridgeBayWeather 07:53, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
    • If you look at a large number of nominations of the same kind, and they all end up as no consensus with large numbers of votes, you should understand that there isn't the consensus needed to delete and not waste your time and that of others. Kappa 08:56, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  1. Oppose for now - numnber of edits isn't a problem for me, but lack of time on wiki is very short. I'd expect to support in a couple of months. Dlyons493 Talk 09:34, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply

  1. Neutral - Looks like a good candidate but can't have much experience with AfD or policy discussion as if he did, he would know the lack of consensus to delete school articles. Would someone please twist my arm? -- Cel e stianpower hablamé 07:47, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  2. Neutral -- Aranda56 is a great user, and will definately make a good admin some day. While I'm not much on edit counts or time since arrival as an indicator of an editor's readiness for adminship, I think a few more edits and a few more weeks would be of benefit. Don't lose heart, JAranda, and don't let this slow you down; rack up more edits and a bit more time, come back, and you'll have my full support. -- Essjay · Talk 20:12, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply
  3. Neutral per Essjay. If this was a few weeks from now or another 1,000 edits away, i'd definately be in the Support Column. Karmafist 22:08, 8 October 2005 (UTC) reply

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Im going to try to revert as much vandalism as possible in RC patrol which I am doing now but a revert button will be nice and Im going to try closing a Clear Delete VFD at first and speedy delete only clear junk as well so I can avoid early conflect. Also going to deal with copyvios accordenly. But im also going to give a special attention to sockpuppets in particlar and try to make sure that sockpuppertry is a thing of the past here especially the sockpuppets that normally invade VFD which has become underrated.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. Im not really a good article maker List of Sports Flops is an example but I did some signifacant cleanup of a few articles from POV ex: Tracy McGrady and I think my Manny Mota was a decent article I created. But Im mostly going do to sports articles cleanup and maybe create the occational page.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I normally try to avoid conflect with users but sometimes I get slightly stressed out. I was involved in a slight conflect with SPUI over some Traffic Circles in VFD but I mainly avoided it. Also lately I got my nerves being tried by User:Alpine88 who kept placing nonsense on many articles and I was the only one to reverted it because it was minor nonsense but still nonsense. But I try to keep cool when stuff like that happens. If I become admin Im going to avoid stressesful situations like School Articles in VFD and other similar situations
