Surfing for detective duties

Back in the day, KOFY TV had this weekday afternoon programming called "Detective Theater". The two programs that would air were reruns Cannon (TV series) and In the Heat of the Night (TV series). At the very start, there was this score which sounded like surf music. Was the piece specifically written for that, or was it adapted from another famous song? Anyone know 2603:7000:8100:9390:18A:4B43:4363:B660 ( talk) 03:03, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply

If you can somehow find a YouTube clip of it, that could help. ← Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:14, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
Might it have been the Hawaii Five-O Theme? It was a big radio hit in the 1960s, and as a police show theme, may have been the one used for the Detective Theater. Just a shot in the dark. -- Jayron 32 11:49, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
Another shot in the dark would be Dick Dale's version of " Misirlou", best known these days as the theme of Pulp Fiction. -- Viennese Waltz 12:22, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
Wipe Out (instrumental) comes to mind. The third paragraph of the lede mentions how often it has been used in film and TV. MarnetteD| Talk 15:30, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
None of those references matched. Perhaps Tony Kilbert may remember. I hope he's still around. He served as the host, (and was once a DJ at KBLX-FM). 2603:7000:8100:9390:FDC9:68B7:4B9B:5D0E ( talk) 22:05, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
Or, perhaps it may have provided a sampling to the Power Rangers theme. That could be a clue. 2603:7000:8100:9390:ED55:A7C4:1D0A:627B ( talk) 15:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Last of the Summer Wine - rated 18??

does anyone have anymore information on why some episodes released on DVD of Last of the Summer Wine have an 18 certificate. imdb states this on their site - United Kingdom:18 (DVD rating, four episodes) 86.151.61.126 ( talk) 17:14, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply

The British Board of Film Classification has some information on how the rating system works. Foul language, drug use, violence, nudity, and simulated sexual activity are generally the reasons why a film or TV show will be classified with 18. -- Jayron 32 18:42, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
hi yes sorry i know how the classification works, but it was more about WHAT in those specicfic episodes gained them an 18 rating. this show used to be on british telly on a sunday evening. its the blandest most inofensive show you can imagine! 86.151.61.126 ( talk) 19:13, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
Yes. Last of the Summer Wine is a gentle sitcom about three elderly Yorkshire blokes. There's no swearing beyond "Flaming 'eck!", and unless tea and bitter ale count as drugs and a glimpse of Nora Batty's wrinkled stockings count as sexual activity, an 18 Certificate seems wide of the mark. Alansplodge ( talk) 12:52, 7 March 2023 (UTC) reply
We have a List of Last of the Summer Wine home video releases which specifies their BBFC ratings, but there are no 18s there. Likewise when I search on Amazon for Summer Wine DVDs or Blu-rays with an 18 certificate I get no results. I think this is an example, and hardly the first one, of IMDb proving to be an unreliable source. -- Antiquary ( talk) 21:37, 6 March 2023 (UTC) reply
The complete DVD collection, with the pilot episode and specials, has a 12 certificate. Unfortunately imdb is the sort of website that can be, and often is, edited by any damn fool with an internet connexion. DuncanHill ( talk) 15:06, 11 March 2023 (UTC) reply
