Are there any examples of series and films that were produced by or produced for Netflix, but are no longer available on the platform? While this doesn't directly answer your question, you'll probably want to be clear on what exactly you are asking. Your question itself is somewhat clear, your topic heading is less clear and in particular to my reading isn't asking the same thing as your question proper. First, when you say 'for' do you mean exclusively or primarily or just including? Something can be produced for Netflix, but also for other networks or distributors. Anyway as for the topic heading 'Netflix original' can mean different things. Notably I'm fairly sure things which are simply branded as Netflix original, is not necessarily produced by or for Netflix. While I can't find sources directly confirming this, I'm fairly sure 'Netflix original' branded films can include indie films which were produced independently with no funding from Netflix. In some cases, Netflix may have been the primary target distributor, but I'm fairly sure many producers and directors are happy to sell their film to whoever gives them the best deal (financial, target audience, etc). See e.g. [1] If I understand List of original films distributed by Netflix correctly, it can even include films which have already been shown in other countries. Note that this also applies to series as well. The reason I somewhat excluded it is especially after the first season it may get complicated. For example, as mentioned here [2], Riverdale is branded a Netflix original in much of the world outside the US. However it's primarily produced for CW in the US. But this doesn't necessarily mean it's completely inaccurate to say it's produced for Netflix. I don't know what the funding structure is, but I suspect a fair amount is coming from Netflix not just for already produced episodes, but also effectively for future episodes. I have not yet contacted them but I suppose I could try. As for Nil Einne's question, I was thinking of series and films that were produced specifically for the Netflix, with Netflix being the primary platform for where these media are available for consumption. For example, stuff like Game Over, Man! or The Ranch (TV series) which are only or mainly available on Netflix and were made specifically for it. Those that were produced primarily for a TV station in their home market, even if they're branded as "Netflix originals", don't count for me.
