The article on "Golf" in the 1988 edition of the World Book Encyclopedia gives champions for The Open Championship beginning in 1914, for the PGA Championship beginning in 1916, for the U.S. Open (golf) beginning in 1914, and for the Masters Tournament beginning in 1934. None of the championships have their own articles. PGA and Masters make sense, since they were started in those years, but were there any significant changes to the two Opens in 1914 that would prompt someone to ignore previous years' events? I don't see anything about 1914 in the US Open, aside from results, and all I see for 1914 in the British Open are results and some tweaks to the qualifying process; I'm left wondering if the editors simply omitted previous years' results for space reasons, but maybe I overlooked something that should be obvious, or maybe our articles are incomplete. If I were a hopeful screenwriter, and I didn't want to get into Hollywood, what avenues might be available to sell my script? Theskinnytypist ( talk) 16:27, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
