August 19 Information

connecting to a private server to play Painkiller multiplayer (PS3)

The instruction on the internet says:

This means you can still connect to them via console and play. Just open your console and write /connect (ip address)

This information is for me useless. If I google for it how to open the console on the ps3, I have something like a "terminal Command" in my mind, but I dont find there any console in the multiplayer menu and the search result are only showing me how to open the console itself with a screwdriver. What a waste of time.
Can anybody please explain to me how to find / open this console bar / menu to connect to a private server? -- 46.167.62.33 ( talk) 05:14, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Can you provide a link to the site you are quoting ? The site I found talks about running it from a Windows PC, not PS3: https://steamcommunity.com/app/39530/discussions/0/1697169163401243592. SinisterLefty ( talk) 11:44, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Long press on a word for Samsung

When I long-tap a word in Chrome Browser for Samsung, the translation provided by Google pops-up from the bottom of the screen up. I was prompted by software to accept or reject a deep-learning process as part of the aforementioned translating extension. The thing is, having clicked "No thanks", long-tapping doesn't work any longer and now I have to web-search or look in the dictionary app, both extremely tedious actions compared to a single long tap.

How do I restore this one-tap magic?

Not an answer, just an observation: I also find it annoying when I am trying to get something done and up pops a window asking me how I want some setting, when it would require an hour of research to understand all the implications either way. I appreciate the "Ask me later" option and/or allowing me to pick a choice but only make it apply this time, not forever. They should also offer links to understand the implications, and describe the process for undoing the decision, once made. Unfortunately I often get arcane questions instead, like "Do you want to use a POP3 server ?", which I must permanently commit to immediately, with no explanation given. It was hidden in the most advanced of settings. I've retained the long tap pop up, but I have to long tap the popped window at the bottom again for translation. Is there a way for foreign words to be translated instantly by Google? Splićanin ( talk) 17:09, 22 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Making Computer Run Faster Without Restarting?

I have been using a MacOs X on a laptop and one issue I have always had is that the computer will slow down bit by bit as time goes on and this could be fixed by a restart which would return its speed back to normal. If I recall correctly, this has something to do with freeing up the RAM. Is there a way to achieve the same result without having to do a restart? 70.95.44.93 ( talk) 23:48, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply

See memory leak. It won't be as much of an improvement, but closing unneeded programs will certainly help, as will closing pics, documents, spreadsheets, etc., which are open in applications, or tabs in web browsers. If you have the ability to monitor RAM (memory) usage, do so as you close those items, to find out what makes the biggest difference. You could also do this when starting up apps, to get a more complete picture. If one or two culprits are taking up a disproportionate amount of RAM, you may opt to avoid those. And installing more RAM will certainly help, too, but that's tricky on a laptop. If you tell us your laptop model and the current amount of RAM, we can check on what the maximum is.
