Slow Blind Driveway

The result of the discussion was Speedy deleted by Rjanag per criterion R2 (cross-namespace redirect) [1] Gavia immer ( talk) 01:38, 2 October 2009 (UTC) reply

Unencyclopedic and potentially confusing cross-namespace redirect (which is protected so I couldn't add the RFD template to it). If protection is necessary, it should be create protected, not edit protected. snigbrook ( talk) 19:26, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply

  • Hmmph! This redirect was formed when an attempt at humour was moved from articlespace to project space. Frankly, I don't see the target essay as something worth keeping (I don't see the purported humour at all); I'd recommend that this be taken to WP:MfD (before the move, this would have gone to WP:AfD, whereupon it would have been executed as a hoax. As to the redirect in question: should the target be deleted through MfD, the redirect will be swiftly gone, too. Before then, it's a bit more problematic - should the target go to MfD, I'd recommend deferring a decision on this until the fate of the target is decided. 147.70.242.54 ( talk) 19:39, 28 September 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Delete This has no place in the main encyclopedia. -- JaGa talk 20:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Delete - even if this page is taken to MfD and is kept, the redirect is entirely inappropriate and a bad use of a CNR. — Zach425  talk/ contribs 06:45, 30 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Texas toothpick

The result of the discussion was delete. Jafeluv ( talk) 07:03, 6 October 2009 (UTC) reply

The target page does not mention "texas toothpick". In addition, there seems to be quite some disagreement on what the phrase refers to. I've seen suggested "baculum", " spud bar", and fried jalapeños (the only article that actually mentions the phrase). Given the confusion, I recommend just deleting the redirect. Powers T 18:58, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply

  • Delete as there are too many possibilities: it's often used as a slang term for the baculum of various animals (most notably raccoon, from what I've seen), but it also refers to a type of jackknife (it seems [2] and [3] are sold under this description, for example). Go past the second page of the Google search of "Texas toothpick" (entire phrase) and you'll see nothing (as of this post) but commercial knife listings (I've also seen this referred to as a type of Bowie knife). If the redirect is to be kept, it should point to an article (or disambiguation page) dealing with a specific type of knife. 147.70.242.54 ( talk) 19:53, 28 September 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Delete Unlikely redirect target. In my experience (backed up by Google) I've only heard this term in the context of knives. -- JaGa talk 20:42, 29 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Another Julie Sutton (mayor) exists now, so a redirect from the maiden name of a sportsperson who appears to have (mainly) competed under her married name, should not occupy the primary Julie Sutton page. A hatnote on the mayor's page to the sportsperson could be added when this is done. The-Pope ( talk) 12:50, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply

The result of the discussion was keep all as plausible misspellings (non-admin close). B.Wind ( talk) 02:21, 4 October 2009 (UTC) reply

Deletion of redirects from these unnatural / unlikely misspellings (which are unlikely to be useful in searching or linking) is proposed. In Japanese, "ōkk" spelling never occurs. More broadly, chōon is never immediately followed by sokuon. Tokek ( talk) 03:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply

  • Keep all. I understand Japanese orthography quite well, and I still sometimes trip over the similarity between "Tokaido" and " Hokkaido". Someone with no knowledge of the language is even more likely to do so, since the island of Hokkaido is more prominent. These are plausible typos, though Tōkkai region is slightly less so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gavia immer ( talkcontribs) 00:47, 29 September 2009
That, and one person would have to go through the trouble of linking or searching with macrons, which makes it even less likely. The redirects appear to have been made as a reaction to this edit [4]. — Tokek ( talk) 11:48, 30 September 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Keep all - these don't appear to be doing any harm. If anything, they may be helping those misguided souls who are not aware that chōon is never immediately followed by sokuon in Japanese. — Zach425  talk/ contribs 07:13, 30 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Yet another meaningless redirect of {{ talk header}}. Edit history is mainly tests in the direction of talk header. Magioladitis ( talk) 00:56, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Delete. Unfortunately, WP:CSD#T3 did not exist back in 2006 so a quick and cheap redirect was used instead. [5] Zzyzx11 ( talk) 01:48, 27 September 2009 (UTC) reply
