- This file was previously listed here (see discussion). However, that discussion was regarding the issue of Freedom of Panorama, and the inherent usability here on en.wiki. That is not the issue I raise here. The concern I have is the image is sourced to a file that no longer exists on Commons. The original source identification is lost. Without it, we have no means of ascertaining if the author of the image has in fact released the issue under the cc-by-sa licenses indicated. There are two copyright issues at stake here; the issue of FOP addressed in the earlier PUF (and cleared) and the issue of the rights of the author of the image. We can not ignore the author's rights. This image is slated to become the picture of the day in November. We need to clear this up, and properly assert the source of the image and the proper copyright status if it can be ascertained. . I cannot remember which license I used when I uploaded this image to Wikimedia Commons in November 2012, but I think I used license {{Self|GFDL|Cc-by-sa-3.0-migrated|cc-by-sa-2.5}}. This license is what I generally use when I contribute my photos to Wikimedia Commons. Here is an example,

- Please review near the top of WP:PUF where it says "primary purpose of this page is to ascertain the source and/or copyright status of a file" (emphasis not mine). I did not place this file for deletion. The licensing on the image was unclear. I properly placed it here to clear up the licensing of an image that is slated to be a featured picture. Certainly we want our best work to be inline with our highest expectations for how images are to be handled, no? - This file was previously listed here (see discussion). However, that discussion was regarding the issue of Freedom of Panorama, and the inherent usability here on en.wiki. That is not the issue I raise here. The concern I have is the image is sourced to a file that no longer exists on Commons. The original source identification is lost. Without it, we have no means of ascertaining if the author of the image has in fact released the issue under the cc-by-sa licenses indicated. There are two copyright issues at stake here; the issue of FOP addressed in the earlier PUF (and cleared) and the issue of the rights of the author of the image. We can not ignore the author's rights. This image is slated to become the picture of the day in November. We need to clear this up, and properly assert the source of the image and the proper copyright status if it can be ascertained. If it can't, then regardless of its status as a featured picture, it would need to be deleted. Hammersoft ( talk) 20:58, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

. I cannot remember which license I used when I uploaded this image to Wikimedia Commons in November 2012, but I think I used license {{Self|GFDL|Cc-by-sa-3.0-migrated|cc-by-sa-2.5}}. This license is what I generally use when I contribute my photos to Wikimedia Commons. Here is an example,
. The photo of File:Burj Khalifa.jpg
would use the same license as this image when they were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons during the same period/time in November 2012. Please let me know whether my above statement met your requirements for the certification of the original author of the image File:Burj Khalifa.jpg. Regards

- Keep, I've checked the deleted version at Commons, the uploader did indeed use the licensing tag stated above. The authorship/attribution on the local copy is correct. January ( talk) 17:10, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Keep. Note that I was the one who deleted the image on Commons; the logical conclusion is that I know the copyright status of the image, no? In the future, please don't nominate images for deletion for such a reason if the uploader is a Commons admin; if you have your doubts, just ask them directly. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 04:56, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Please review near the top of WP:PUF where it says "primary purpose of this page is to ascertain the source and/or copyright status of a file" (emphasis not mine). I did not place this file for deletion. The licensing on the image was unclear. I properly placed it here to clear up the licensing of an image that is slated to be a featured picture. Certainly we want our best work to be inline with our highest expectations for how images are to be handled, no?
