  • A UK Image from 1920 is not necessarily Public domain, more information is needed to determine the authorship or anonymity of same. Sfan00 IMG ( talk) 21:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC) reply
  • Delete Sourced to a book which has an ISBN. ISBNs didn't exist back in the 1920s, and we do not have any evidence of any prior publication. -- Stefan2 ( talk) 22:09, 7 December 2013 (UTC) reply
  • Keep - ISBN of book reprinting the photo is irrelevant. Significant factor is an unknown artist published the photo (created in fixed form, i.s. the photo itself) while subject was alive. That gives 70 years of potential copyright concerns, which has long expired. I understand wanting to follow copyright rules, believe me, but clumsily tagging very old works for deletion is usually more destructive than helpful. DreamGuy ( talk) 15:15, 8 December 2013 (UTC) reply
    • You are making several errors.
      1. The British copyright term for anonymous photos is not 70 years from photography, but 70 years from publication, unless the photo wasn't published within 70 years from photography. If the photograph was taken in the 1920s and first published in the 1980s, then it was published within 70 years from photography, so in that case the copyright expires in the United Kingdom 70 years after the 1980s.
      2. Wikipedia is hosted in the United States, not in the United Kingdom. Different copyright rules are used in the United States. In particular, if the photograph was first published after ISBNs were invented, the copyright would normally not expire in the United States before 1 January 1948 (sometimes later), per Commons:COM:HIRTLE.
You will have to show that the copyright has expired in the United States. Whether the copyright has expired in the United Kingdom or not is irrelevant for Wikipedia. -- Stefan2 ( talk) 21:07, 8 December 2013 (UTC) reply

It is in the public domain in the United States as it was published in 1914; see {{ PD-US-1923-abroad}}. This is the only thing that we care about here on English Wikipedia. As it satisfies {{ PD-US-1923-abroad}}, it is "free" for our purposes, and shouldn't be deleted as "unfree".
On my talk page, you asked whether the source country is Pakistan or the United Kingdom. This depends solely on the country of first publication, so what we need to find out is where the listed book was first published. If it is a British book, then the source country is the United Kingdom. If, on the other hand, it is a book from Pakistan, then Pakistan is the source country. -- Stefan2 ( talk) 22:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC) reply
