Tom (LT), in the interests of transparency, and good practice, when deleting other people’s then-good work, can you please link here in the MFD discussion the prior discussion at the WikiProject, and the notification to the WikiProject of this deletion discussion. Also, please say something about why archiving has not been chosen. Normally, deletion of records is only done when the material should never have been created. However, the WikiProjects may manage their own affairs as they choose. Are you here representing WikiProject consensus? —

Great point, my oversight - have notified with wikiproject. Why does archiving have to be chosen? (is there a guideline you are referring to, or is this your personal preference)? In my opinion there are several pages of A class instructions on many Wikiprojects that are very similar, so I suspect were created as a pro forma or batch. I think it is harmful to have them lying around because it contributes to the feeling of inactivity or worse, wastes WP editor time with maintenance. Lastly things rapidly fall out of date as technical or other factors change around here. This is why I propose deletion. Will of course respect the voice of people who comment. Yours --

Hi
Tom (LT). I’m not so much speaking to you as to others who might look to what you are doing for how to do it. Deletion is fairly extreme, deleted and it’s gone, normal editors can’t second guess later. Archiving is cheaper, you can do it unilaterally, and if someone disagrees later, they can undo it. So, the question is, and should be always be, “why not just archive”. I don’t think the threshold for an answer to that is very high, just some evidence that you are not using deletion for archiving (
Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Archiving). “Never used, and inferior to actual processes” would be good. If it used to be used, I think it should be archived. The easiest way to archive is by redirection to the better idea. I am not !voting “keep”; If the WikiProject would like it deleted, I support that. —

Coming here as a member of WikiProject Transport. I do believe
WikiProject Highways has an A-class review, so maybe it's coming from that. I'm not a fan of A-class in general, but I wouldn't see any downside to this page being deprecated. I'm not sure about the pros/cons of deprecation vs. deletion, so I'll leave that to MfD regulars. {{u|Sdkb}}talk23:41, 14 November 2020 (UTC)reply
Were these review instructions in use at any time? Why must they be deleted? Would marking them as {{historical}} be sufficient if they are no longer active instrucitons? --

Agree - it would be possible to do this. Every area on Wikipedia is different and I haven't previously been exposed to that many MfD nominations; I see at MfD there is a preference for keeping. I'm happy to withdraw this nomination and mark the page as historical --
