Template:User MIT Apply ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
(Time stamp for bot to properly relist.) —  Godsy ( TALK CONT) 06:40, 11 November 2016 (UTC) reply

old and unused. I don't think we need userboxes based on where a person plans to apply in the future, and also identifies the user as a high school student. Frietjes ( talk) 17:15, November 10, 2016 (UTC)

  • Keep. Unused, so why is it a problem? Graduating high school students are old enough to be responsible for self declarations, and identifying as a high school student is not revealing of personal data. Intended tertiary institutional enrolment is probably not a good self-description for editor networking, but that could be fixed by editing. eg change "This user is going to apply for MIT after he/she finishes High School" to "This user enrolled at MIT in 2008".
RE "unused"? It was used on past userpage versions. The deletion of templates due to current non-use I often find very annoying as it wrecks the presentation of old page versions that used the template. -- SmokeyJoe ( talk) 03:46, 14 November 2016 (UTC) reply
if we make your proposed change, we should move it to Template:User MIT enrolled, which then make it redundant with Template:User MIT graduate or Template:User MIT which are used. the author of the userbox last edited here in 2009 ( retired here) and is using Template:User MIT. the usage timeline for the Apply box on the author's page can be seen here [1] [2] [3]. this search returns no other "apply" userboxes. Frietjes ( talk) 17:47, 14 November 2016 (UTC) reply
Thanks. Either redirect to Template:User MIT, or (now that we are here) "delete in favor of" Template:User MIT. Agree with discouraging userboxes based on future intentions. -- SmokeyJoe ( talk) 23:36, 14 November 2016 (UTC) reply
