Secret pages

I am nominating User:RaygunShaun/Secret Page, User:Shannon1/Secret Page, and User:Editor510/SECRET PAGE for deletion per WP:UP#GAMES. Joe Chill ( talk) 14:09, 13 August 2011 (UTC) reply

  • Delete. I made that page when I was, what, 11 years old? I barely edit Wikipedia any more and it's not of much use to me. I think it's better to open up more memory space on the Wikipedia servers, so go ahead and remove my page as requested, I'm not bothered.-- Editor510 drop us a line, mate 08:28, 14 August 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Wtf, I didn't even know my secret page was still up. I thought it got deleted in some deleting frenzy more than an year ago. But can I still keep it? I'll use it as a sandbox or something, even 9 sandboxes and a drafts page isn't enough for me... Shann º n 23:03, 14 August 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Delete all The arguments for deleting secret pages are summarized in the essay Wikipedia:Why secret pages should be deleted.

WP:UP#GAMES states that examples of unrelated content to writing an encyclopedia are "Games, roleplaying sessions, secret pages and other things pertaining to "entertainment" rather than "writing an encyclopedia". Such activities are generally frowned upon by the community. Games of no educational value relevant to the project are routinely deleted at MfD." WP:NOTMYSPACE states that "[t]he focus of user pages should not be social networking or amusement, but rather providing a foundation for effective collaboration."

To the creator: in a July/August 2010 policy discussion (at Wikipedia talk:What Wikipedia is not/Archive 34#Does WP:NOTMYSPACE apply to secret pages?), community consensus was that the policy Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not does prohibit secret pages. The deletion of this page is not a reflection on you; instead, it is a reflection of the changing community consensus that secret pages set an inappropriate ethos at Wikipedia. In that policy discussion, I wrote here about why all secret pages should be treated equally; whether a user social networks or does not social network on Wikipedia has no bearing on the fact that all secret pages should be deleted. • Delete also per my September 2010 request at User talk:Shannon1#Request for Shannon1 to tag the pages for deletion as she did User:Shannon1/Secret Page Challenge in April 2010. I see no purpose to converting these pages to sandboxes because sandboxes can be easily created. However, if Shannon1 wishes to use these pages as sandboxes and removes the policy-violating content before the MfD is closed, I do not object. Cunard ( talk) 07:18, 15 August 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Thank you, Joe Chill, for nominating these policy-violating secret pages for deletion. There are more secret pages that need to be deleted but it is wise, as you have done here, to do the nominations in small batches. Cunard ( talk) 07:18, 15 August 2011 (UTC) reply
