The result of the debate was delete per inappropraite purpose for portal. Also deleted per this MfD: Portal:WorldFood/Asia/Recipes and Portal:WorldFood/Asia/India/Recipes. — Doug Bell  talk 17:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC) reply

Portal:WorldFood

portal does not serve any purpose to make Wikipedia an encyclopedia. Shyam ( T/ C) 15:42, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply

  • Delete, as its stated purpose is to be a compilation of recipes, which Wikipedia does not allow in its articles in the first place. -- tjstrf talk 17:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Keep temporarily Keep this for a few weeks and see what happens and whether or not anything happens, it was only created today, I mean give the project a chance! Telly addict 18:51, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply
    • Comment, it could be kept for a few weeks but I do not seek any advantage because other topics related to the portal could be covered in the Food portal which is already featured. Shyam ( T/ C) 18:56, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. The introduction itself states its purpose is to "create the worlds biggest Food/Recipe Site". Obviously, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, and this includes non-encyclopedic recipes and manuals. Not a valid portal. Michaelas10 (Talk) 18:52, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. Compilations of recipies are no more acceptable in portalspace than anywhere else. - Amarkov moo! 23:20, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete - With no need to "see what happens". If you take out the recipe stuff from the mission statement, you are left with an empty fork of Portal:Food. Author should be cautioned over WP:NOT policies and referred to an alternate Wiki to host this. — Dgies t  c 23:32, 2 March 2007 (UTC) reply

  • Delete - keep recipes in Wikibooks, please. A "recipe of the week" function that provides standard recipes for food items that have Wikipedia articles might be permissible in Portal:Food, depending on how it is implemented. Gracenotes T § 13:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete "the worlds biggest Food/Recipe Site"? that's really not consistent with what Wikipedia is. -- Aude ( talk) 04:13, 6 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. "Recipes"? Looks like someone's trying to piggyback off of Wikipedia here. -- Calton | Talk 02:29, 7 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete: I fail to see the point of the portal. The portal does not offer links to any valid articles nor does it claim to be a introduction to its topic.-- Wiki Fanatic | Talk 07:41, 7 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • ->Wikibooks Cookbook. That's a more appropriate place for it. ~ Crazytales  (talk) 14:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete Wikibooks materiel which doesn't belong here. It isn't even a Portal, so it doesn't belong in Portal space. · AO Talk 15:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC) reply
