Dead portal. This portal has red links. JJ98 ( Talk / Contributions) 20:21, 16 June 2011 (UTC) reply

  • Never paid much attention to portals before, but I have to say that this is the sort of nomination that needs much more information. How do you measure life and death in a portal? Surely "Trucks" is a fairly stable thing. The existence of red links is not normally a reason for deletion. In fact, red links have been considered a good thing for inviting newcomers to help build the project. -- SmokeyJoe ( talk) 23:47, 17 June 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Delete Never finished and not being maintained in any worthwhile way. -- Klein zach 00:31, 21 June 2011 (UTC) reply

  • Delete Redlinks in articles can be good things, because they encourage people to write another article to make WP's coverage better. Portals, however, are meant to showcase our existing articles, and the redlinks here just show that the task of completing the portal was never finished. There shouldn't be redlinks to the "selected article archives", for example, nor for entire missing sections such as selected picture and DYK. Bencherlite Talk 01:01, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply
NB if the portal is deleted, the closer should also remember (1) to remove the portal link from {{ WikiProject Trucks}} and (2) use Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Trucks and Special:PrefixIndex/Portal talk:Trucks to find and delete all subpages (e.g. by adding User:Splarka/ajaxbatchdelete.js to your monobook). A number of the portal deletions in recent months have not been doing both, leaving redlinks on WikiProject templates on talk pages, and a mess of subpages floating around without a headpage. Yes — but it hasn't been touched since last August. -- Klein zach 00:25, 27 June 2011 (UTC) reply
It was created less than a year ago, it's a suitable topic for a portal, and there are not many red links there. It would be easier to complete this than to start a new one just because a few pages are missing. Peter E. James ( talk) 06:48, 27 June 2011 (UTC) reply
I have notified John Carter ( talk · contribs), the portal's creator, so let's see whether he (or indeed anyone else) is interested in completing the work here. Bencherlite Talk 13:51, 27 June 2011 (UTC) reply
