Portal:Recovery

Portal:Recovery ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

This portal ( subpages) suffers from at least three problems:

  1. Incompleteness: The portal contains very little content, with most of the boxes being empty or in need of a complete rewrite (/Intro and /Categories). While incompleteness is a problem that can be remedied, the effort required to create a new portal would not be substantially more than the effort required to complete this one.
  2. Lack of attention: The portal was created, and all edits to it were made, in May 2007. Moreover, the portal's creator has been effectively inactive for the past 5 months, having made a total of 5 edits since October.
  3. Scope: The focus of the portal is recovery from addiction, with an overemphasis on twelve-step programs. However, "recovery" can refer to many things, including recovery from an illness or injury ( healing) and recovery of lost or stolen property, persons (e.g. hostages), or information (see data recovery). A portal with such a general name should not have such a narrow scope. A better title for a portal about this topic might be Portal:Drug rehabilitation (see Category:Drug rehabilitation) or Portal:Addiction (see Category:Addiction); however, a simple rename from this title to another is not an adequate solution.
  • Delete per nom. The portal clearly refers to the Recovery model, but is inaccurately named, as above. Also, while I think that there is sufficient content for such a portal to be created, this one is woefully incomplete and, at present, there is no good reason to think it will ever get enough attention to be really completed.
