Portal:Leathermaking
A good intention of a new user's spirit for Wikipedia, but unfortunately the topic of the portal is not well understood, and there is no main article in existence. I assume the topic regards the process of creating leather, but it is much too narrow to bring interest to people. I can't find any content for the portal's basic requirements. - Keep Not up to MfD to decide what is "too narrow" as a topic for a portal. Page is still fairly new. No content? Several hundred links to Tanning relating to leathermaking would imply otherwise, as well as a couple dozen in Category:Leathermaking". Collect ( talk) 13:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Delete There is not enough people to keep this project alive and not enough people interested in the topic overall. In addition, the page is very basic and clearly lacks content.

- Um -- most such new pages "lack content" and are "very basic" and WP does not require a specific number of people to be interested, only that sufficient content on WP exist. The topic of
Tanning is clearly congruent with the portal, to be sure.

- Actually it does: It is required that at least someone sticks around to maintain it. It has been there for about 4 months now, enough time to decide whether or not the portal is interesting to the community. The topic is either too narrow for it to be interesting or articles lack for inclusion in the portal. The best topics to choose from are those who have WikiProjects to maintain it.
