Portal:Google

Basically a bunch of redlinks and advertisements for Google software. (Well, they might not be advertisements but definitely aren't NPOV.) Nothing that can't be already be found in Google or Category:Google. The topic is not as broad as video games or radio, and thus a portal probably isn't necessary. • Keep for now. 2 days old, I'd like to give it some breathing room. – xeno talk 21:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC) reply
  • It is not ready and there are other companies that have portals. These are all advertisements too? Wild mine ( talk) 13:39, 14 August 2009 (UTC) reply
No, they're not ads. At least they're not supposed to be. I know other companies have portals; Portal:Microsoft is an example. Xenon54 ( talk) 14:13, 14 August 2009 (UTC) reply
So why is a Google portal an example of a portal ad Wild mine ( talk) 15:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC) reply
Keep working on it. If you make it look like a nice portal, it's a lot less likely to get deleted. Gigs ( talk) 15:28, 14 August 2009 (UTC) reply
If you read my nom, you will see that I said the portal might not be an ad but is definitely written from a non-neutral point of view. (Upon further inspection, the list of software appears to be copied from List of Google products, so it's a problem with that article, not with the portal.) As an example, the description of Sketchup tells about its "unique dragging interface". And there's something in there about Microsoft Office Online that has little to nothing to do with Google. Per Xeno, lets let him work on the page. Why not ask him to move the page to his userspace instead of putting it up for deletion? Talk about WP:BITEing the newbie. Ikip ( talk) 20:51, 15 August 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Userfy It's been several more days now, and the page is still in an extremely poor state. Gigs ( talk) 23:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Move to Userspace - this will allow Wild mine the opportunity to get it looking better. As Wild mind and Xenon said, other companies have portals. However, this one needs an awful lot of work to come up to scratch - Portal:Microsoft is a good example of what kind of thing I'd expect to see. Oh, and please resize the "Google" logo - it's far too big (I could probably give more ideas, but that's the one that really stood out!) -- PhantomSteve ( Contact Me, My Contribs) 12:30, 18 August 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Notice Author has voluntarily userified this. Suggest that this MfD be speedy closed by someone uninvolved and the cross-namespace redirect deleted as housekeeping. Thanks Wild mine. Gigs ( talk) 14:33, 18 August 2009 (UTC) reply
