Portal:European Space Agency

Portal:European Space Agency ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Non-portal abandoned in 2008. Never got off the launchpad.

This portal was started in August 2008‎ by U5K0 ( talk · contribs), who created it with the edit summary trying to start a much needed task force. need all the HELP I can get. U5K0 made 3 subpages, before apparently moving on to other things, which is of course fine. WP:NOTCOMPULSORY.

Ssolbergj ( talk · contribs) did some tweaking the next day, but there has been nothing else except the usual formatting updates. Some seedlings grow, but this one didn't.

After 11 years, it's still a non-portal. Just a short one-page leaflet with an excerpt from the lead of the head article, one picture, an an 11-year-old excerpt from an unlinked article which turns out to be Jean-François Clervoy, an unsourced BLP which I have just BLPPRODded [1]. No DYKs, no news, no nothing else; see Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:European Space Agency

Meanwhile, the head article European Space Agency is a decent B-class, and its big-but-well-organised navbox Template:European Space Agency is great. Per WP:PORTAL, "Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects", but this isn't even a pale shadow of the head article; it's a BLP violation which should have been deleted years 11 ago.

Just delete it now. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 18:57, 4 May 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Comment. Haven't looked at the portal yet, but Jean-François Clervoy isn't unsourced; external links count. Espresso Addict ( talk) 22:39, 4 May 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - Jean-François Clervoy (1) received his baccalauréat from Collège Militaire de Saint Cyr l'Ecole in 1976; (2) passed Math. Sup. and Math. Spé. M' at Prytanée Militaire, La Flèche in 1978. (3) Graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris ; (4) in 1981, he became a member of the Corps of Armament... and ... (5) is Ingénieur Général de l'Armement. Challenge: finding at least a reliable source for each of these statements, and a date for (5). Pldx1 ( talk) 10:41, 5 May 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Delete - Abandoned draft of a portal, 7 subpages, created 2008-08-16 21:55:21 by User:U5K0. Nothing to be kept. Portal:European Space Agency. Pldx1 ( talk) 10:41, 5 May 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. I think this could work as a portal topic, given 43 years of history, 22 countries involved and how interested editors here are in space missions. However, this is static and abandoned unfinished. For the record, much of the material on Clervoy appears to be mentioned in one of the external links.
