Portal:Andorra ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Country level portal with numerous issues.

  • In Category:Portals with errors in need of immediate attention but not getting it.
  • messed up layout that shows just the intro and a bit from the same country article
  • unless you scroll to find the one featured article with a bunch of other broken content embedded in it. That one box has what must be photo captions without photos along with other unhelpful content.

Like Portal:Aruba and Portal:Jordan this one is broken and not being maintained. In fact it was restarted and tagged as "needing immediate attention" on January 22 same as Portal:Jordan [1] There is no indication the WikiProject portals is addressing Category:Portals with errors in need of immediate attention and there is unlikely to be a country specific wikiproject to fix this mess and keep it fixed. There is actually Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Andorra, but the talk page doesn't show much activity (apart from incoming newsletters etc). DexDor (talk) 18:14, 12 April 2019 (UTC) reply
An ugly color scheme abandoned outdated mess [2] before being restarted on Jan 22 the day TTH created a series of busted country portals and tagged them as needing immediate attention they never got. I sure would not roll this back to the preautomated version, even if the mass G6 tagging had not been done. That G6 tagging is really hard to reverse I hear. Almost the entire population of Andorra lives in a continuous blend of settlements that have grown together along the river. The locals distinguish between "towns" but to an visitor the settlements are more like neighborhoods. Basically Andorra is a small linear town that happens to not be part od any other country. Great shopping, sking and one of the largest spas in Europe though. Fun place. Legacypac ( talk) 18:43, 12 April 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Keep, all countries should have portals. This is the last pre-"restart" revision; I expect it is not too difficult to work from that to make a decent portal. I have reverted some of the G6 tagging so even older versions are also usable. — Kusma ( t· c) 20:38, 12 April 2019 (UTC) reply
Why should "all countries have portals"? Andorra is (in terms of area) about a twenty-thousandth of Europe so is it really a broad topic? DexDor (talk) 21:07, 12 April 2019 (UTC) reply
Andorra has about 77,000 people total, smaller then my little town that is not big enough for a Costco. I've been there twice and there is just not enough there to justify a portal. Legacypac ( talk) 21:42, 12 April 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Keep. The topic is suitably large. Even though automated portals usually fail, this one draws material from a category large enough to produce varied and relevant content. As for Category:Portals with errors in need of immediate attention, it was added by The Transhumanist himself, without explanation. I don't see any such problem, so the category could be removed. For me at least, the layout seems fine. I don't see a box that corresponds to the problems identified by Legacypac, either. I do get some weird layout problems, but only in preview mode. I've tried to add the required Related portals item (see history), but someone with more experience with automated portals should implement it so as to not break anything. –  Finnusertop ( talkcontribs) 23:58, 13 April 2019 (UTC) reply
Scroll to the Human Rights in Andorra selected article to see the errors. I'm just viewing it normally. Legacypac ( talk) 00:21, 14 April 2019 (UTC) reply
Now I see the problem. A minute ago I didn't, and the layout seemed to work with all Selected Articles. Now I see the "captions" as well, whereas a moment ago the section had proper lead excerpts from the articles. I don't know what causes the problem; these automatic portals are sometimes a mystery. –  Finnusertop ( talkcontribs) 00:46, 14 April 2019 (UTC) reply
