Portal:American football

Portal:American football ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I stumbled across this page in a vain hope it wasn't created. I was rather shocked to see it in it's rather dilapidated situation. The Bios and articles haven't been updated since at least October of last year. The terms section has only one in them, and the news hasn't been updated since January, of last year. As this is an important topic, I believe, and hope, thatthe result of this will be userfy. I have a rather immense idea in my head for this portal, but can't work on it in portal space due to differentiating time constraints. I've notified Jahiegel, the original maintaienr of this portal, here, and will notify Jayron32 and Wikiproject NFL after I finish writing this. All the best. • Delete as abandoned (for the last couple of years). Would be happy to reconsider if someone is willing to revise it and keep it up to date. -- Klein zach 04:42, 4 October 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Keep I tried to keep it up to date for a while, and invited several people to help, and no one did. Like the OP I had time constraints as well. I'd like to see this kept, and I would be willing to pitch in to bring it back up to a working level, but I can't do it all by myself. -- Jayron 32 12:35, 4 October 2011 (UTC) reply
That's basically what I"m saying, just I would like to userfy it to work on it instead of leaving it in an unsure state. Or, it oucld be kept, with you an me woking in tag team motion, I edit when your'e out, you when I am. Buggie111 ( talk) 13:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC) reply
Why would userfying it or deleting it make it better? Why couldn't we just work on it in the Portal space where it is now? I am unclear why you want this deleted? -- Jayron 32 13:35, 4 October 2011 (UTC) reply
I ahve this thing against levaing things unfinished. But, ok, let's leave it in portal space. Buggie111 ( talk) 14:14, 4 October 2011 (UTC) reply
Wikipedia:Wikipedia is a work in progress has some interesting things to say on this. -- Jayron 32 00:18, 5 October 2011 (UTC) reply
I see. On a side note, you can check over my future plan for the portal right now, as the templates have been set up. Buggie111 ( talk) 00:21, 5 October 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Userfy Nominator wants to Userfy, and I agree. This is dilapidated, but it could be useful and a boon to the NFL project if someone were willing to commit to it. –  Muboshgu ( talk) 02:55, 11 October 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Userfy per nom and Muboshgu. This clearly offers the best way forward. (I have struck out my 'delete' above.) -- Klein zach 00:28, 12 October 2011 (UTC) reply
  • Do not userfy work on it in the portal namespace, please (as I see is already happening). There are thousands of links from mainspace to this portal from {{ Portal|American football}}; as we don't allow links to userspace from mainspace, these would all have to be removed if the portal was userfied and then reinserted, which is completely unnecessary. Personally, I would have set the "selected article/biography" to a fixed point such as Portal:American football/Selected article/January, 2009 to avoid redlinks whilst working on the new material rather than set up ten new redlinked "selected foo" subpages on the main portal page as the first step towards improvement, but YMMV.
