The result of the discussion was no consensus to delete. However, since the current state of affairs is clearly unacceptable, I'll redirect it to Wikipedia:User page#How do I create a user subpage?, as User:.:Alex:. suggested.-- Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 06:03, 8 January 2009 (UTC) reply

I doubt this page is serving any purpose. Even typing /sandbox in the search bar on the left won't take you to your sandbox. I think deleting this and salting both \sandbox and /sandbox would be a better idea. -- Unpopular Opinion ( talk) 08:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC) reply

Its not supposed to be an article so I chose MfD instead of AfD, hope that's ok. -- Unpopular Opinion ( talk) 09:00, 1 January 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Keep or offer an alternate means of telling people how to make their own sandbox. In point of fact, this article is telling people that typing "/sandbox" or "\sandbox" is wrong -- and tells them what to do -- i.e. ot os helpful. Clearly this falls into proper use of mainspace in that sense, and would not fall into MfD in any case. Collect ( talk) 12:35, 1 January 2009 (UTC) reply
Didn't think of this before, perhaps would be more beneficial, it would seem to be more beneficial to redirect the page to the wikipedia page dealing with creating a userpage sandbox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kargin ( talkcontribs) 08:12, 2 January 2009 (UTC) reply
I don't especially like to have this sort of thing in article space, but having something at \sandbox (and /sandbox, and possibly \Sandbox and /Sandbox) is a necessary evil. It isn't just a convenience issue, but one of those things related to WP:BEANS that I shan't elaborate further on. However, the best solution is probably not to try and explain things, but to just make it work - make these a protected redirect to Special:MyPage/sandbox so the user content automagically ends up in the right place. In any case, such pages need to be protected - full protection (or create-protection) plus move protection, indefinitely. Gavia immer ( talk) 16:53, 2 January 2009 (UTC) reply
With suggestion that all similar pages not currently extant (as noted above) be created with the same aim to make it as simple as possible for newbies to learn about creation of sandboxes. Collect ( talk) 13:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Delete and salt. Same as new artical and countless other mistake titles. — RHaworth ( Talk | contribs) 19:58, 3 January 2009 (UTC) reply
  • Delete and salt. I see the reason for creating this page, but it breaks the rules about what belongs in article space - if we allow this, we'd have to allow the creation of pages under many similar 'mistake' titles, some of which could be taking the place of actual articles. Deletion may be less helpful for newbies, but I think it's the better option here. Terraxos ( talk) 21:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC) reply
