I'd love to come to a meetup - I'll be in Sydney from mid-Jan 2006, till about March, so hopefully something will happen in that time. -- Singkong2005 15:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Are these meetups Wikimedia-wide? I'd like to encourage some Wikinews folks to come along as well..... - Borofkin 01:10, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Put your name here if you can do NickJ's suggestion as above.
Meeting at Town Hall steps, 11:30 AM, Sunday 5th Feb 2006. |
Note: enochlau and I have emailed the people listed at the Sydney Wikiproject, and at Category:Wikipedians_in_Sydney to send the word out. -- All the best, Nickj (t) 03:42, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
How will we recognise one another? Or do you guys all have Ws tatooed on your foreheads? -- Danny Yee 04:47, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Any suggestions on location / time for the above? novacatz 14:39, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
My suggestions: city (food, air conditioning, plenty of parks to lounge around and chat), a hike in the Blue Mountains? Wikimedia Australia planning is well under way, and currently the Melbourne guys have gotten their act together and figured things out. Although spending the entire day discussing Wikipedia is not desirable, I think this is something we'll need to put on the table. enochlau ( talk) 04:20, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
How about meeting at the Town Hall steps again? Andjam 04:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Shall we say 11:30 AM? Would that give some time for a wander around, and then yum cha? I'm pretty easy, so the main thing is just reach agreement on the time. Do we want to meet at Town Hall steps or Darling Harbour? (Those seem to be the two main contenders). Town Hall steps is well-known and is easy to reach by public transport, but there's no/limited parking. Personally, have a slight preference to driving if possible, which favours Darling Harbour, although Darling Harbour is harder to get to by public transport. But I'll go with whatever the general consensus is. Thoughts / preferences? -- All the best, Nickj (t) 03:53, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I suggest that everyone take a look at meta:Wikimedia Australia, meta:Talk:Wikimedia Australia and meta:Wikimedia Australia/Base. Familiarise yourself with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sydney and the WP:AWNB if you haven't already done so. Cheers! enochlau ( talk) 12:25, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
