Where is the issue taking place?
Use of self-published original research ("The CR FAQ") hosted on a website owned by at least two of the parties as a reference.
Who's involved?
What's going on?
Citations involving conflict of interest were placed by Paul Pigman, linking to a site of which he and Kathryn NicDhàna are co-owners. They are both co-authors of the self-published research. It was brought up on the talk page, an RfC was opened, but no real outside opinion came in except for admin Jossi, who states that self-published research like this cannot be used unless the authors have qualifications (like degree, previous publication, etc.) Other users are also restoring the links when I remove them.
What would you like to change about that?
I believe the reference is not a reliable one and should not be used.
Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
No, openly is fine with me.

Mediator response

I am concerned that so many of the respondents have refused to co-operate. It is disturbing to read that they choose not to participate but take full advantage of this space to openly attack the requester, but do not afford the process the opportunity to resolve the dispute. I think it was quite mature of the requester to file this request for mediation in hopes that he could resolve this dispute with the assistance of an impartial third party. If anyone here is actually interested in discussing the concerns of the requester I welcome their participation. Alan.ca 04:00, 14 January 2007 (UTC) reply

Note: I cannot begin to mediate this case until at least two parties are prepared to proceed with my mediation. I will be refactoring this page to present only statements relevant to the mediation. If you do not wish to participate in any form of mediation on this matter, please state so clearly and the mediation may proceed without your contribution. Alan.ca 06:59, 14 January 2007 (UTC) reply
