Where is the dispute?

Wikipedia entry for Bircham International University

Who is involved?

  • Raissa Rouse

What is the dispute?

The Wikipedia entry for Bircham International University (BIU) has been blocked from editing dating back to December 2007. BIU has exhausted all venues to try to amicably resolve its block, including endless discussions with the editorial community when allowed to access. All it aims for is to be able to update the information, not edit anything a third party puts on the page, such as new ownership, current addresses, delete old memberships, add new memberships and accreditations and achievements such as inclusion in the EU Socrates Comenius program. BIU HAS NEVER ENGAGED IN EDITORIAL ABUSE PRACTICES and yet the user block continues despite a letter from Wikipedia GC Mike Godwin advising it to edit the entry. It seems that the main source for the refusal to allow updates is from editor Guy Chapman

What would you like to change about this?

To unblock the user block to allow updates.

How do you think we can help?

To provide a NPOV please allow the subject of the entry to add in its changes as set forth above regarding addresses membeships ownership etc.

Discussion

The Mediation Cabal is an informal group that seeks to assist editors in resolving content disputes. We don't have any authority to overturn blocks. Blocks can be appealed either on the user talk page or to the Arbitration Committee. PhilKnight ( talk) 09:32, 12 April 2010 (UTC) reply

  • The requesting user - along with the identical Ucanca ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) - has been blocked as a sock or meat puppet of Bircham ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Bircham International is widely identified as an unaccredited and substandard institution, Bircham has a problem with the fact that we reflect the real-world consensus view of this rather than their own cosy inner view of themselves as a provider of "non-traditional" education. They have been trying for three years to whitewash the article and have tried pretty much everything including threatening letters to the Foundation. No useful purpose can be served by engaging with this user since his goal is fundamentally antithetical to Wikipedia policies, as has been explained to him at enormous length. Per [1] JzG has rejected Mediation, and this should be closed. Hipocrite ( talk) 14:30, 19 April 2010 (UTC) reply

Given the requesting user has been indefinitely blocked, I agree this can be closed. PhilKnight ( talk) 17:42, 19 April 2010 (UTC) reply
