Captcha will not load properly(error message instead), thus I am currently incapable of using Huggle. Ronk01 talk 23:48, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Does huggle assume that the project namespace is wikipedia? If you try to use huggle on meta it loads the rc feed for the English Wikipedia. This might be the issue since on meta wikipedia:Huggle/Config redirects to the English Wikipedia. MorganKevinJ (talk) 21:59, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

...that I have ever felt the need to raise an issue with Huggle, in many months of using it. However, I find this latest configuration to be somewhat cumbersome. In 2.1.1, I twice tried using a manual edit summary from the "Advanced..." reversion dialog, and in both cases my edit summary was not used and the default edit summary (i.e. "Reverted edits by X to last revision by Y") was used instead. This isn't good, as using a default edit summary may give the appearance of a capricious reversion. Orange Suede Sofa ( talk) 21:20, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Huggle is not giving proper warnings to frequent vandals, I revert/warned an IP three times and no warnings showed up on his talk. Clearly this is a major bug. Ronk01 talk 23:12, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

So, my initial question was meant to determine if those phrases were referring to coding, or were the names of pages on the project on which Huggle was running. From your response, I understand, therefore, that those phrases are part of the current Huggle’s code. Thanks! — Spike Toronto 07:38, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Today I attempted to run Huggle 2.1.1; it reported that a newer version is available. When I attempted to download it, an exception occurred:

There was the case of error in summary in Russian Wikipedia in this edit. Itself edit was correct, but its summary was incorrect. Hi I would like to make some testing team for testing huggle before it is released, I do not have a lot of time for doing tests myself and I believe it's too important, I must admit there were some bugs caused by some of my changes (which could harm the stability which previous versions had), although those were fixed I want to prevent this from happening again, if anyone is interesting in testing just tell me what do you think about this whole idea, I think I will release beta versions everytime 2 or more days before releasing stable and would contact all the testers with e-mail, if you have some suggestions about testing just tell me. Anyone is welcome to participate on testing but if you want to get notified you would have to add your name somewhere (could be on this page - I will create some subpage for testing probably). I have noticed that some of the templates listed at Template:Huggle have changed over time to become rather more bitey than is probably for the best. I would assume that since these templates live in a bit of a walled garden, they don't get a lot of eyeballs watching them for changes which might slip away from consensus. Is there any technical reason why these templates can't redirect to the user warning templates approved by WikiProject user warnings? The templates listed there are subject to wider scrutiny and consensus. — Elipongo ( Talk contribs) 16:32, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
If there is consensus to return these templates to being more consistent with WP:UTM, I would be willing to do the work since User:Petrb and User:Addshore are kept quite busy working on the Huggle program itself. Thanks! — Spike Toronto 09:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Is there anyway I can stop Huggle writing my huggle.css file every time I quit - it never used to do that, it only wrote it when a version changed. I have extra revert summaries in there, and I have to revert the rewrite every time. I didn't mind when it was just the occasional version change - I used to copy the extra summaries over. Or maybe we could have a hugglecustom.css included for our extra customisations? I thought of protecting it, but that won't work, as (technically) it's me writing the file... It seems nowadays that Huggle warnings on user talk pages are not being noticed by Igloo or ClueBot NG. Only by Huggle itself or when the user who reverted vandalism manually picks a warning. Unless there's a way for the other codes to notice Huggle warnings, I notice that those warnings themselves do not include the "<!-- Uw- warning# -->" format used by the User Warnings Project. They just use their own ones. Even ClueBot NG uses the "<!-- Uw-vandalism# -->" format in its warnings. mechamind 9 0 16:50, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible to add welcome templates to the top of user talk pages, rather than the bottom? Twinkle has this option and I have found it most useful, but I haven't found an equivalent function in Huggle. This would also seem to solve the problem of whether to automatically welcome vandals when reverting or not, which I saw came up a couple of times in the archives. If a user wanted to welcome a vandal, they could just do it after the automatic warning template, and the end result would look the same as an automatic welcome (albeit in two edits, not one). — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 08:37, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
I really only like to watch a small number of pages, so watching every user talk page on which I've placed a warning is not really for me. I've tried unchecking all of the watch settings in the options pane of Huggle multiple times, but every time I reopen Huggle, they're back to the default settings. I originally thought the issue was that they reset every time I updated Huggle, but looking through my configuration page, it seems to reset even when the version number is not changed (e.g.: [4]). Is this supposed to happen? Is there any way I can stop it from happening? It's not a huge issue, but I'd rather not have to purge my watchlist every time I use Huggle. Currently, I am displaying two queues: filtered edits and filtered new pages. The latter queue (displayed at the bottom) is buggy: when I click a queue item, it opens the different page from the one I clicked, and when the display say that there's one item in the queue, none are displayed - see the screenshot. - Mike Rosoft ( talk) 16:30, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Since upgrading to 2.1.12, I've noticed that Huggle tends to crash suddenly after a while. The time varies from 2 or 3 minutes to about 20 or 30 minutes. When the crash happens I just get a message that says Huggle has encountered an error and is shutting down. In this diff, I tried to revert an edit by Belongs:m5 ( talk · contribs) with Huggle. It sent a warning to M5 ( talk · contribs), and did not revert the edit. (Notice the similarity in username after the final colon.) After several tries, I rolled it back and warned the real vandal with Twinkle. I suspect this may be coming from a parser issue where Huggle is finding the last colon rather than the first when getting usernames. Reaper Eternal ( talk) 15:33, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello, would someone elaborate on the whitelist concept for me please? I guess specifically what I am asking is what it means to be on the whitelist and how users are added to it. For instance, if I don't revert an edit, is the user who made the edit added to a whitelist? Or is it after a certain amount of edits? The reason I ask is because I will many times skip over pages with blanked sections because it is hard to tell if the blanking was vandalism or not, and I want to be sure that this doesn't mean their edits are no longer displayed in Huggle. Huggle has a very good system for prioritizing edits that are more likely to be vandalism; examples include edits made by already warned or reported users and edits that blank or replace the content of a page. I think it would be a good idea to add a functionality that would detect whether a certain edit prompted the placement of a certain tag. Some tags, like "references removed" or "section blanked," very often point to unconstructive edits. While such tags show up in the diffs that Huggle loads, they don't contribute to a certain edit's priority, nor do they have special icons. Thoughts? Robert Skyhawk ( T C) 22:51, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Why does Huggle mark all changes as minor (as I've been told it does by someone who makes a lot of non-minor changes, all marked minor)? Reverting vandalism is not minor, and it doesn't make sense to mark it as such, because to the user who chooses to "hide minor edits" on his Watchlist, it will appear that the vandalism is the most recent change. Huggle appears to not be handling edit conflicts very gracefully. I just came across an instance where I used Huggle (2.1.14) to comment on a Talk page and apparently hit an edit conflict; my edit looked like it overwrote the other editor's. I usually use wireless Internet connections which have some packet loss, which appears to negatively impact my Huggle's connection to the IRC recent changes feed. It would be very helpful to have Huggle be more forgiving of packet loss while connected to that feed, and automatically attempt to reconnect to that feed when its connection is lost. As a potential Huggle user, it seems difficult to get an idea of what exactly Huggle does. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I'm considering an update to Template:Tool warning to change how the phrase "or risk losing access to the tool or being blocked" displays, considering making "risk losing access to the tool" an optional parameter. As a regular Twinkle user, I know that Twinkle did away with its blacklist and has no approval-before-use process other than being autoconfirmed. In going through Huggle's pages, I'm finding lists of users for whatever reason, but no check pages of whatever sort that would lock a user out from using the tool depending on their name's presence or non-presence on a list. Am I correct that Huggle has no blacklist or whitelist governing access to the tool? SchuminWeb ( Talk) 05:53, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

The already reported mechanism should be changed to allow additional warnings to go through when a user has been reported to WP:UAA but has not been reported to WP:AIV. Reports to AIV often receive prompter attention, and so when a vandal is reported to UAA and stops receiving additional warnings, it significantly complicates getting them properly warned for an AIV report. Since the whitelist has been moved off wiki, I'm curious if there's a mechanism to phase out older entries, or perhaps periodically purge the whitelist. For whatever reason, many whitelist entries, particularly of IPs, in the past were users that were either blocked or otherwise problematic that found their way on the whitelist simply because people ignored their edits. In the past, I, and others would periodically purge the list of either IPs or altogether. But offwiki this seems to be impossible. So I wondered if there was some mechanism in place to, at the least, expire out outdated white listings. Shadowjams ( talk) 06:24, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

My current understanding is that Huggle processes the IRC recent changes feed, then applies white list and warnings issued etc. to create the list. My proposal is to have a separate IRC feed created by User:ClueBot NG that removes vandalism reverted by ClueBot and ranks the RC by ClueBot's AI on how likely it is vandalism. I feel the time lag from ClueBot would more be made up by no user ever loading a page to see it get reverted by the bot. I realize that we may not wish to publish ClueBot scores in an IRC channel, in that case an IRC feed that just takes out the bot reverts would be fine. Thoughts? When I blocked a couple of users tonight, the red circle (which indicates - report at AIV), stayed as a red circle. In the past it turned into a filled red circle, which nicely shows that the block action has completed properly. I had to load up the user in FF to check he was blocked. It only happened twice, as there was not many people to block tonight, so not 100% sure if it was just a minor glitch or it don't work anymore. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Huggle seems to have a bug regarding reporting users with bad usernames. Earlier I reported a user for a promotional name, which it did properly, then I hit the standard revert/warn button on their edit. Huggle reverted the edit then reported them to AIV. Obviously that does no good, as they had no previous warnings for vandalism. Therefore, it appears that if a user has been reported to UAA and then gets an edit reverted, they will automatically get reported to AIV as well.

Hey there. Thanks for making Huggle - I can tell in a short amount of time back that it's made a huge impact on how the community protects against vandalism. I'd really like to use Huggle, but I'm behind a security layer that blocks all non-secured IRC connections. I know my issue is a niche - but is it possible to either enable secured IRC (SSL) support (complicated) or a separate initial-screen proxy tab for an IRC-only SOCKS 4/5 proxy?

It would be really cool if Huggle could log (in the userspace) all CSD and proposed deletion nominations like Twinkle does. It'd be even cooler if it could continue a log that Twinkle has already created, such as User:MJ94/CSD log. MJ94 ( talk) 16:49, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Huggle appears to not be handling edit conflicts very gracefully. I just came across an instance where I used Huggle (2.1.14) to comment on a Talk page and apparently hit an edit conflict; my edit looked like it overwrote the other editor's. It's the first time (strangely enough!) that I've run across this, and I haven't come up on a situation which would demonstrate repeatability yet, but it might be something to take a look at as a preventive measure. -- Alan the Roving Ambassador (User:N5iln) ( talk) 21:08, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

However, before you make that happen, please stop Huggle from deleting my queue when it attempts to reconnect to that feed. Thank you. — Jeff G. ツ 21:57, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
As a potential Huggle user, it seems difficult to get an idea of what exactly Huggle does. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I feel that the manual (or main page) could benefit from a standard wiki-type introduction giving an overview of the program's features, and reasons why we might like to use it.

Hi, I would like to notice that new version (2.1.15+) of huggle comes with notminor changes affecting all wikis, please get yourself ready:
Whitelist will be located outside of wp using special php script, it will be editeable over huggle only and I hope it save load of wm servers and make stuff easier. (don't worry before release we will sync all db's of whitelist on all wikis, problem is that users using old version of huggle will still update old whitelist ignored by users of new). If you would like to participate on whitelist management you need account on toolserver. The new version also come with MOAR updates and features, most of which can be turned off, since this is a major change there will be a testing phase, which will begin soon, please watch irc for more updates on this.

Thoughts? Huggle seems to have a bug regarding reporting users with bad usernames. Earlier I reported a user for a promotional name, which it did properly, then I hit the standard revert/warn button on their edit. Huggle reverted the edit then reported them to AIV.
