Hi,
In the article /info/en/?search=List_of_presidents_of_the_National_Research_Council_of_Canada, I'm puzzled why some of the people listed link to articles about them in Wikipedia, while others don't. Specifically, I feel the name "John R. McDougall", second from the bottom in the table, should link to /info/en/?search=John_R._McDougall, in the same way that (e.g.) the first name in the table, Henry Marshall Tory, links to the Wikipedia article for that person. When I go into "edit" mode for /info/en/?search=List_of_presidents_of_the_National_Research_Council_of_Canada, there's no difference in the format for these two names. How do I get the name "John R. McDougall" in /info/en/?search=List_of_presidents_of_the_National_Research_Council_of_Canada to become a clickable link to /info/en/?search=John_R._McDougall? Thanks - 174.116.84.40 ( talk) 00:14, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
It is a pretty safe assumption that this company is no longer in business . For many months now the telephone number shown on their contact page has been disconnected. They do not respond to emails and talking to a large percentage of the retailers they list ,these confirm that they can no longer contact the business. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.180.27.19 ( talk) 00:26, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
In the primary school article, everything after the introduction appears below the {{ sidebar}}-based {{ childcare}}. Why? Using preview, I've tried using {{ clear left}} (does nothing), {{ clear right}} (forces down the TOC), and {{ clear}} (same as clear right), and I can't imagine what could cause the text to appear left of the sidebar, as it normally does. It's not something fundamentally related to {{ sidebar}}, since other pages using sidebar-based templates, e.g. Recapitulation theory of atonement, have text next to the template. Removing the top image fixes the problem, but I don't believe that's the underlying reason — if I put the school image in the recapitulation article and preview, the text appears as normal. Nyttend ( talk) 02:24, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
PS, it appears to be an interaction between my skin (Monobook) and my browser (IE). I've checked it when logged out, checked it when logged into my account in Chrome, and checked it when logged out in Chrome, and everything's normal in all cases. So why should it have this issue when using a specific browser-skin combination? Nyttend ( talk) 02:30, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

I'm confused about the use of "Birth" and "Origin" for Background Information. Since these words mean the same thing exactly, why don't the staff of Wikipedia choose a different term, such as "Early Residence"? OK, granted one word beats two, but the one word you have chosen is not meaningful. Perhaps "Early Residence" is not the ideal term, but at least it is the correct meaning. Origin has exactly the same meaning as place of birth. I realize you want to have some way to communicate that a person did not remain in his town of birth very long, but "Origin" is a huge failure to communicate. I hope your defense is more than just "That's how we have always done it."— Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikievil666 ( talk • contribs)

One of the functionalities previously provided by the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Index assessment logs was tracking the removal of articles from a WikiProject (when a banner is removed or when an article is deleted). User:WP 1.0 bot hasn't been working for some four months now, and I'd like to know if there are alternative tools that could provide said information. I am a bit baffled by the sudden deletion of this article on which I have been working. The subject of the article was a well-known South African and certainly notable enough to merit a Wikipedia article.
