Dear graphists, could you please upload separate crops of the wifes of
Otto (it′s “Möhrlen, Ernestine” in the center),
Eugen (“Susy”, at the bottom),
Paul (“Mathilde”, on the right) and
Friedrich Mühlberg (“[Tante] Emmy”, upper part)? Many thanks in advance. --

MjolnirPants: Thanks for making it brighter! But, can you remove the person in the background from the pic? Also, maybe you can "cut" the pic, in a way (its too long, and only the part around the king's head and upper body is important). --

Please note that a straightened, cropped version of this image already exists (3rd thumbnail above), and since the image is rectangular there is no benefit whatsoever in using a png file, which the WP software makes a very poor job of rendering at thumbnail resolution. Compare
this (using the png) to
this (using the jpg), or simply compare the thumbnails above. Slight differences in orientation notwithstanding, I'm sure you can see that there's a vast difference in terms of
acutance. Please stop converting jpg files to png files willy-nilly! Thanks. nagualdesign17:58, 30 July 2017 (UTC)reply
Can someone please crop the white spaces in this file and upload the result to Commons? Do whatever you can to make the photo better. This file can be used on the other versions of the page in different languages. Thanks in advance.--

Can somebody please remove watermarks? I am working on a draft bio of her in my userspace and would like to have them.
Sorry for linking this way, but it's a pain copying those meaningless numbers in the file name.

Done I've overwritten the original, since it's only used in articles about Mollie Peters. You're welcome to re-upload it as a derivative if you wish, and revert the original. The bedsheet looks a bit chewy at 100% to be honest, if anyone fancies having another pass at it. nagualdesign20:45, 27 August 2017 (UTC)reply

It isn't always advantageous to convert images to png files, as they render slightly blurred as thumbnails. The only place where it's worth doing this would be an infobox image (and hope that one fine day the thumbnail-generating back-end software gets an upgrade). I've edited the jpg instead. nagualdesign03:31, 23 July 2017 (UTC)reply

Sundostund seems you have quite a bit of requested image crops, I don't know if you're familiar with the CropTool on commons, but it is very helpful for these type of situations where you just need to crop. If you haven't used the crop tool before you may need to enable it first in the gadgets menu here
C:Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets, you'll find it listed under the "Interface: Editing and uploads" section. Enable it there and click the save button on the very bottom. After doing that when you view a image on commons you'll see "CropTool" listed on the side listed under tools, you can use that to create a image with just the area you need. -
Offnfopt(talk)21:57, 24 September 2017 (UTC)reply
Offnfopt I've heard about that tool before, yes, but so far I didn't try it. Honestly, my skills at uploading/cropping images have never been good (most of my uploads at the Commons have been deleted), so I just try to avoid doing stuff with images. Also, I do request quite a bit of crops at times, and yet again I often don't have a request for weeks... I'm sorry for overwhelming requests at this time, I didn't want to cause any troubles in the workshop. I just thought that folks around here can work on my requests when time allows them, nothing more that that. --

Ok - Commons prefers retouches in separate files, so the simplest thing to do if you're happy with it, is to update the article to use the new file. A case could be made for updating the original and deleting the retouch file, as it's a 'correction', but it's in the eye of the beholder, so I prefer to (and it's simpler to) leave both versions, now that they exist. --Begoon01:58, 9 October 2017 (UTC)reply
Please make the background slightly blurry, keep the person sharp however, and the dimensions of the image should be kept too. Upload file under new name. Thank you. --

Please create a separate image file, cropped to only Vargas Llosa. The current image in the Vargas Llosa article is very inadequate, and replacing it with this cropped file would be an improvement. Thanks. --
MarshalN20✉🕊15:09, 21 October 2017 (UTC)reply
Not very big, when cropped, but I made an attempt. Incidentally, the original is weird - the woman on the right almost looks photoshopped in, but perhaps it's just really bizarre lighting conditions... --Begoon01:50, 22 October 2017 (UTC)reply
Upscaling a jpeg can be problematic, because you can't get new pixel information and often it just blurs or introduces noise/artefacts. However, I managed to get an ok-ish result at 220px, which is common infobox size, so I've uploaded that. I also tried to reduce the blue tint on the right side of his hair. You can always revert if you don't like it. --Begoon04:10, 22 October 2017 (UTC)reply
@
Begoon: I see what you mean. Yeah, the image looks more blurry now. I think the older file was more sharp and pleasing to the eye, albeit small. But, it's your file; keep it or revert it. Either way, I appreciate the new image altogether (it's better than the prior one, where Vargas Llosa had a ridiculous facial gesture). All the best.--
MarshalN20✉🕊07:40, 22 October 2017 (UTC)reply
Ok, that's done now. I made an additional attempt to get rid of the blue "reflection" on his face, but that's the last upload, so can be reverted out if you think it goes too far. Really, it's a shame the original is such low resolution, or we could get a much better result. There doesn't seem to be a higher res version at
Flickr, sadly. --Begoon09:33, 22 October 2017 (UTC)reply
That's quite nice, but still suffers a bit from the upscaling. I do like the less destructive approach you took with the blue "reflection" on his face, but I wish it did more with the hair higher up. Maybe try an "alt" of the un-upscaled image? --Begoon12:06, 22 October 2017 (UTC)reply
I agree. His "pose" in the smaller image is better, but the quality just isn't there. I looked at lots of images when searching and this was the best I could find that was useful and didn't have an "odd" facial expression. --Begoon23:46, 23 October 2017 (UTC)reply

PawełMM, I like the colour you teased out of that. What I did was start with the TIF, greyscaled it, then put yours on top of it as a colour overlay layer, slightly blurred. I've put the result in the file history, here:
[2], and with slightly less blur on the colour overlay here:
[3]. Have a look and see what you think. --Begoon06:34, 25 October 2017 (UTC)reply
Ok then, I cleaned up the second version a bit, cropped it and uploaded it. Basically all the colour comes from what you did, I just combined that colouring on top of the TIF. --Begoon06:59, 26 October 2017 (UTC)reply
