File:O'niel Cylinder.jpg ( delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by TomStar81 ( notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Delete The file is a fair use image of space colony in Gundam series. However, the image description in Gundam Universal Century technology only stated that O'Neill cylinders. All space habitats inhabited by humans in the Universal Century timeline are of this type. The file is therefore only used as a brief illustration of O'Neill cylinders, in which there are free images on Commons at c:Category:O'Neill cylinders. Therefore, the image may violate WP:NFCC#8, and should be deleted. 廣九直通車 ( talk) 04:29, 22 December 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Weak Keep It is a fair argument, I grant, and I could see the justification for NFCC#8 (or for that matter NFCC#1 or NFCC#4 since this is an image cell from an anime epsidoe and not from a book on the subject), although I will point out that of the images we have under a free license only two show a cylinder from the outside, and both introduce extraneous equipment unassociated with the shows - in fact, in the case of File:Spacecolony1.jpg, the image introduces spaceships and other vehicles that are not a part of the Gundam series in any capacity. File:Spacecolony2.jpeg omits the space ships and other vehicles, but shows a large disc mounted in the back of the space colonies which doesn't feature in any of the Gundam series works either. I concede that information could be added to a caption to note that these differences are not part of the Gundam timeline, however it seems that if we are to have an image it would be better to have one from the series proper, and not a generic filler image. • Delete - The statement for the image isn't found anywhere else in the article, nor is it sourced. I feel that the image can definitely be stated in words alone per proper sourcing to back up the claim. - Knowledgekid87 ( talk) 14:31, 30 December 2019 (UTC) reply

File:Patterson Statue.JPG ( delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Draeco ( notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Originally nominated for speedy deletion under WP:CSD#F9 by David Eppstein with the reason "Photo of artwork created in 1934, too recent to be automatically public domain, in the US where there is no freedom of panorama for public artworks" FASTILY 06:52, 22 December 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Delete: Despite the apparent age of the statue (it looks like it's been installed for quite some time), there is no freedom of panorama for publicly displayed 3D works of art in the US as explained in c:COM:FOP United States; so, unless it can be shown that this was created and installed prior to January 1, 1924, it wouldn't be {{ PD-US-expired}}. The uploader is correct in that they do own the copyright on their photo, but they've photographed someone else's copyrighted work and photos of 3D objects are considered to be WP:Derivative works (also see c:COM:DW); so, there are two copyrights which need to be considered: the copyright for the photo and the copyright for the statue. Now, it might be possible for this to be converted to a non-free license for the statue (e.g. {{ Non-free 3D art}}) with the photo being released under a free license, but that would likely mean that the file couldn't be used in James Kennedy Patterson per WP:NFCC#1 and WP:NFCC#8, and perhaps also couldn't be used in Patterson Office Tower per NFCC#8 (though it might be argued that it's OK if more sourced content about the statue were added to the article). So, if there's no valid non-free use for this file, there's no reason to keep it even as non-free. Finally, there might also be the option of this being {{ PD-US-no notice}} or {{ PD-US-not renewed}} per c:COM:PACUSA#Before 1978, but that seems like a bit hard to establish without knowing a lot more about the statue. This provides quite a bit of information, but it's hard to tell whether it's copyright was ever renewed. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 00:47, 23 December 2019 (UTC) reply
