Thingg ( talk · contribs) I have been a member of Wikipedia for a little more than 2 1/2 months now and have amassed about 3500 edits. I have been active with helping start WikiProject Xbox and have helped with maintaining the PlayStation Portal. I have been involved in two editing disputes so far: one at the end of December, ( here) and one at the beginning of January ( here) I wondered how I have been doing so far and what areas I can improve in. Many thanks for any and all comments. Thingg 19:25, 20 February 2008 (UTC) reply

  • Hi Thingg... As you stated below, your main contributions to Wikipedia are your work on various game console articles and your work reverting vandalism. From what I can see, you have distinguished yourself in both areas. I have certainly noticed your vandalism reverts quite often on my VP interface. The two conflicts you noted never seemed to degrade into personal attacks or rudeness, and you seem to have a positive attitude regarding conflicts/disputes. In your conversations with other users, you always seem to be civil and concise. You have certainly done a fair amount of work on Wikipedia since joining in December; it looks like you are averaging about 1400 edits/month at this point... that places you well in the top 400 users in terms of number of edits (that is, if this is any indication), and perhaps the top 250 if you took out the bot edits. You should be very proud of both the quantity and quality of your edits. Way to go! κaτaʟaveno T C 19:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC) reply

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Helping get PlayStation 3 to FA status. The article was in pretty bad shape, especially the "Reception" section and required numerous citations. With the help of a few other users, the article successfully passed its FAC. I have also made many copy edits on various articles and have done quite a bit of vandal fighting.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't gotten into any serious arguments with other users, though I have had some conflicts. The first edit dispute mentioned above was one, and I also had some disputes with another user at WikiProject Xbox. Overall though, I have had very few even minor conflicts with other users so far. I try to steer clear of conflicts unless I think it is worth it to fight for a position or the other user is clearly in the wrong. Other than those cases, I usually walk away from the battle because it's just not worth it to fight and my time can be better used elsewhere.
