Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
My favorite contributions are probably the articles I've written and the projects I've worked in. From coordinating and reviving WikiProject Apple Inc. with other users to copy-editing almost 30,000 words in the GOCE backlog drive, helping new users, working at AfC, and much more. I am currently focusing on promoting MacBook Air to a GA and clearing the WP Apple things to do backlog.
  2. Have you been in any disputes over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I mangled a non-admin AfD close, and it was brought to an administrator. Since then, I have refrained (unofficially) from closing AfDs, unless they are clear (all keeps, no deletes) and read up on non-admin closures.

Well, when you've got 4446 edits in user talk space alone, it probably will not look favorable on you. One can use IRC (or whatever you want to call it) and spend less time fixing typos in comments on the talk page. It seems that from 11:38, 14 June 2010 to 13:58, 16 June 2010 you had made significant progress in vandalfighting skills (in less than three days) which is commendable. It can be improved upon if you started with a level one warning rather than jumping to two- or three-level warnings even after the first warning that you've issued. But the WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/May 2010 was the best success I've seen in your participation in (and/or coordination of) WikiProject management (I hear you're going to participate in the next Backlog elimination drive, several more Apple (computer) WikiProjects, and fulfill the offices of Reviewer). :| TelCo NaSp Ve :| 21:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC) reply

I agree, the edit thing is not ideal, however, it is improving and I'm not going to obsess over it. About the warnings: I talked with several admins about this and they agree (it's a judgement call, but blatant vandalism should start at least a 2). Finally, there are 4000 reviewers and 400 articles, and the trial ends 15 August, so don't expect much there. mono 21:34, 21 June 2010 (UTC) reply
I have read your comments and agree with them. Plus I have this page on my watchlist, so there's no need for the talkback template. :| TelCo NaSp Ve :| 21:38, 21 June 2010 (UTC) reply
I would have to disagree with the percentage of userspace edits; as long as mono isn't myspacing or otherwise putting around in his userspace, which he isn't, it is totally fine to experiment and whatnot there if he is a productive contributor as well (which he is). I would call this "putting around in his userspace". He's since deleted the annoying popups and infowhatevers, which takes some maturity. He's already been able to revive a long-defunct WikiProject (how? I'm not sure) and made some useful article contributions. When you get done with MacBook Air, we have plenty of other articles to get to GA. HereToHelp ( talk to me) 02:30, 30 June 2010 (UTC) reply

You've certainly improved over the past month or so, but there is still a long way to go. I think you've finally found your "niche", so hopefully this will work well for you. fetch · comms 23:50, 21 June 2010 (UTC) reply

Whilst I'd congratulate your honesty in (1) starting this comments page, and (2) being prepared to improve other editors' helpings, I'd have to urge caution in the latter. In this case, I feel you could have worded your comments more appropriately. User:Chzz is a very experienced editor and, as my brilliant mentor ever since I've got to know him on the IRC channel, has proved to be the most helpful editor one could possibly hope to meet on WP. I do feel that, if you had glanced at his Talk page before you left your comments, you may have altered your wording. -- Trafford09 ( talk) 22:02, 10 July 2010 (UTC) reply

I know Chzz decently well, however, I was "stronger" in my wording, as I had already complained to him about this. I certainly agree, Chzz is a great asset to the project. mono( how's my driving?) 02:32, 11 July 2010 (UTC) reply
The problem was (and still is) your choice of words. For instance, I type like I talk in real life on discussion pages, like right here. I find that it keeps it, well, real. I think that is the best way to go about it, as it sounds better, more personal, and less like you were receiving a mass-produced letter (aka template). I doubt you talk like you did in the linked post at Chzz's talk page. I don't think I'm hitting the point directly, as the feeling one has when they receive a notice like the one linked is hard to put to words. So yea… Airplaneman Review? 16:55, 12 July 2010 (UTC) reply

A bit later, I've come back for more feedback, but I didn't want to create another subpage. If you'd like more up-to-date info or other stuff, just email me. The stuff from before probably isn't even valid now, but whatevs.  ono  feedback 03:09, 13 September 2010 (UTC) reply
