I noticed that you have made 3,000 edits this month - more than half of all your Wikipedia edits since 2004. Most of these edits have been reverting vandalism on recent changes patrol and reporting vandals at WP:AIV.

I have taken a consistent position on these Editor Review pages that RC patrol is not an efficient use of an experienced editor's time. I occasionally patrol the recent changes and Special:Newpages to contribute to the massive maintenance effort, but my time is better served doing work that other people cannot or will not do. You can find plenty of ideas on the Community Portal (link on the left sidebar). For example, you can wikify poorly formatted pages, or categorize uncategorized pages. You can also find WikiProjects on topics that you find interesting so that you can collaborate with other editors and learn more about a particular subject. For example, if you enjoy video games, you could sign up for Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games or Portal:Video games.

I wish you good luck. Shalom Hello 13:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC) reply

I agree with Shalom that you are an experienced editor, but diverge from his opinion in that I believe you should continue to work on any part of Wikipedia you desire to. You are intelligent, thoughtful of others, and loyal to the project. You take the initiative and find your own way around, and fit in wherever you think you can be of help. I think you are one of the few users who actually read the instructions around here.  :) Your spelling is awesome (and based on your equally adept grammar, I have the feeling you don't even use a spelling checker). There's not much advice I can give you, except: keep up the good work! The Transhumanist    21:53, 30 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I don't really write very many articles. Instead, I tend to mostly revert vandalism, clean up articles, and edit in the Wikipedia namespace. However, of my few contributions, I would say that I am most pleased about Siege of Tyre and, to a lesser degree, Tax farming, which are my only contributions that have really developed far beyond stubs.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I've only been in conflicts related to editing when they were with vandals. Other users have caused me a lot of stress. However, almost every one of those users was a vandal. Only a few actual users have caused me stress beyond the stress of trying to revert an edit and discovering that someone already has reverted it. The only established user that caused me a significant amount of stress was Alkivar. This was due to my (silly) posting of Fruit Brute on AfD. Alkivar decided that, because I had just posted a notable article on AfD and because I was in 6th grade at the time, the appropriate response was to make personal attacks. The conflict was solved partly by the AfD being closed and partly by User:Karl Dickman reporting Alkivar to an arbitrator. In the future, I intend to resolve such conflicts by not getting into them in the first place. It's not impossible to avoid being in them.
