As a stop-gap measure, I propose replacing the entire section with the following:
“ | Reiss's second book, The Orientalist: Solving the Mystery of a Strange and Dangerous Life (2005), is a biography of
Lev Nussimbaum, a Jew who transformed himself into a Muslim prince and bestselling author in Nazi Germany, publishing under the names "
Essad Bey" and "
Kurban Said", and writing the classic novel
Ali and Nino: A Love Story. Reiss traveled to ten countries to research the book, and published his initial investigation in
The New Yorker.
The Orientalist appeared on many "top ten" lists in 2005, and was shortlisted for the 2006 Samuel Johnson Prize [1] for best nonfiction book in the English language. It has been translated into more than 18 languages. |

... and deleting mention of Viereck, which is irrelevant to this shortened summary.
I'd personally like this to be taken care of quickly, because the giant copyvio tag has been on the article for over two months without action, and Reiss is currently much in the news because his much-lauded and Pulitzer Prize–winning latest book, The Black Count, has won yet another award, the PEN Award for Biography, and the article has gotten an average of 35 views per day for the past 90 days. The editor who posted the copyvio text, User:Adk2104, has not been on Wikipedia for the past 2-1/2 years, and no admin has taken any further action to resolve the blanked and tagged area of the article. I'm sure down the line someone will have time to post a more complete synopsis of The Orientalist, but for the time being, can we simply remove the tag and replace it with a short summary as per above? If so, thanks. Softlavender ( talk) 03:00, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
