Nominator's rationale: Non-defining intersection of ethnicity with individual Canadian province of residence. Wikipedia does not have an established practice of subdividing "[Nationality] people of [ethnicity] descent" categories by individual province or state of residence, and there's no compelling reason to start now. The individual province that a person happens to come from does not define their ethnic heritage any differently; there's the added problem here that there's a very real tension in Canadian society around the precise definition of Métis, because it's an identity that tends to get claimed by anybody who can locate any evidence whatsoever of a genealogical ancestor hundreds of years ago whom they believe to have been First Nations, without regard to whether they have any personal cultural or social connection to a true Métis community or not (see e.g.
Michelle Latimer,
Joseph Boyden) — which means that it can sometimes be a matter of debate as to whether a person has any rightful claim to labelling themselves as "Métis". (Especially in Quebec, where there is no recognized Métis nation for a person to be part of at all.) Size of the parent category won't be much impacted by merging, as most people in the subcategories were left in the parent category alongside the new subcategory, although I'm listing this as a merge nomination just so that nobody accidentally slips through the cracks. If subcategorization of the parent is desired in the future, it should be by occupation rather than by province of residence.

Keep Quebec. The history of Jews in Quebec is unique and is a topic of historical interest. For example,

No, I'm not wrong: there may be "numerous categories of the Booian of Fooian descent type", but I didn't say there weren't and that has nothing to do with these. There most certainly are not numerous categories of the "Boo-subdivided-by-individual-province-or-state of Fooian descent" type: such categories exist at the level of countries, and not at the level of individual provinces or states within countries.

Neve Campbell is already in
Category:Jewish Canadian actresses, and thus her direct addition to
Category:Canadian Jews alongside that would run afoul of duplicate categorization rules. I'll grant that some caution may be needed to ensure that people are upmerged back to "Canadian Jews" if they aren't already filed in one or more "Jewish Canadian X" subcategories, but a blanket upmerge of all articles here wouldn't be useful.

Delete. With respect to the first category, while we have a tree for people by language they should contain biographies, not topic articles. There is also
Category:Urdu-speaking people by occupation which does contain biographies, so that one is probably sufficient. With respect to the other two nominated categories, we do not have any communities or diaspora categories by language, only by ethnicity.

Comment -- Urdu is a diglot between Hindi and Persian with a good deal of Arabic, just as English is a diglot between German and Latin/French. It was the language of a Muslim ruling class in pre-British India. As such it is widely spoken by Muslims throughout South Asia.
I am not an expert but
Muhajir people seems to refer to a Pakistani community who migrated from India at Partition. Those who did not migrate are not a diaspora, since they are where they have long been. I suspect the right solution is to merge some of the Muhajir categories into Urdu-speaking ones. As I say I am not an expert. I hope this discussion will attract someone who does know and comes to this without his (or her) own agenda. We can certainly lose at least one of those nominated.
