Cretan Revolt lists rather more than appear in the category, but many seem to be called revolts, not rebellions. The two terms are very similar and I would not want us to change a parent because of one local usage.

- As the creator of the Cretan Revolt dab page, I have absolutely no problem with moving it to "Cretan rebellions" or something like that. I chose "revolt" back then because (for whatever reason) this seemed to be used in the few extant articles, but this doesn't mean we should make a rule out of it. - Oppose This is just not how our naming scheme works. The PC party no longer exists, but that doesn't mean we should rename Category:Progressive Conservative Party of Canada senators to Category:Former Progressive Conservative Party of Canada senators. Similarly, if someone played hockey for the New York Rangers and then left (to retire or join another team), we wouldn't remove Category:New York Rangers players from their page, or switch them to Category:Former New York Rangers players. Independent Senators Group or
Canadian Senators Group senators as also
Liberal Party of Canada senators, particularly when, there there is a
Progressive Senate Group of former independent Liberal senators who are also tagged with
Liberal Party of Canada senators.

- Nominator's rationale: Note to CfD Closer: This is not a straight merge and delete of Category:Independent Canadian senators, as the category is being retained, but rather an upmerging of Category:Independent Canadian senators to Category:Members of the Senate of Canada since the subordinate independent Senate caucus categories that Bearcat earlier today nominated will be upmerged to Category:Independent Canadian senators. Since the caucus groups are notionally not political parties, it holds that this category should be upmerged from the current Category:Canadian senators by political party. In short, post-close, what is to happen is happen is Category:Independent Canadian senators is to become a subcategory of Category:Members of the Senate of Canada. - I'm a little confused by this nom. I think you may be misunderstanding the definition of 'upmerging'? Upmerging in this case would entail recategorizing articles that are in
Category:Independent Canadian senators, and putting them instead in
Category:Members of the Senate of Canada. But based on your last sentence, it seems like that's not what you're going for. If you just want to move
Category:Independent Canadian senators up one level in the category tree, you can boldly make that change yourself - you don't need to go through CfD.
