Nominator's rationale: merge eponymous articles, then delete per
WP:SMALLCAT. Most of these categories only contain an eponymous article and it is pretty unlikely that these categories would quickly expand to a viable size. It is actually surprising that we have so much detail with regard to the subdivisions (including, incidentally, a list of cantons) of a relatively unknown ancient kingdom.

What has the ancient region got to do with the modern Republic? There is more of Ayrarat in Turkey than in Armenia.

Sure but the ancient province of Ayrararat covered the current Republic of Armenia, or at least a pretty large part of it.

Fayenatic london: Reply in three parts: 1. Your suggestion seems to be a call for creating
Category:People from Arzanene rather than for keeping
Category:Arzanene. 2. The four people that you mention were living in a period that the
Kingdom of Armenia (antiquity) no longer existed so categorization in a province of that kingdom would be at least problematic. 3. Even it would not be problematic for that reason, there would still be a
WP:NONDEF issue.
