oppose - I don't see how this category is unhelpful. We have an article on
List of WWE European Champions. You'll also notice that this cat is also a subcat of the other category you have suggested, which would mean we would just move the persons enclosed to a category that doesn't make sense now. The
Category:WWE champions is badly worded, as saying X is a WWE Champion, means that they have won the
WWE Championship. I oppose the deletion of this category, and suggest a rename of this category to

Oppose - There is a championship known as the WWE Championship which
Category:WWE champions is listing. A different title is the WWF European Championship. There is absolutely no logical reason to merge two completely different championships that have nothing to do with it into one category. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 13:15, 16 April 2019 (UTC)reply
Category:WWE champions is primarily a container category for all WWE champions, not for those who held the world heavyweight or universal championship.--
TM 17:17, 16 April 2019 (UTC)reply
Those opposing this move are not addressing the issue and are simply factually incorrect. Merging the contents of this category into WWE champions will not merge winners of two different titles. Look at the category. There are no biographical articles in it. Please address the issue and look at the contents of the category, not simply the name.--
TM 13:09, 17 April 2019 (UTC)reply
It concerns either a defining characteristic (category to be kept) or it is non-defining (category to be deleted) - so merging certainly does not make sense here. It looks to me like it is non-defining.

Question, just so we don't end up with a gigantic train wreck here again; as someone unfamiliar with categories, what is the difference between deletion and upmerging? The category itself is useless, but I don't want to make a mess of things and knowing what each process does would help with that.
