Support gernrally but it might be better to leave this as a category redirect to discourage the unnecessary re-creation of gay categories, when the consensus is for LGBT ones.

We don't create redirects (category or otherwise) to prevent recreation. What we do is
WP:SALT (protection against creation). And we don't do this pre-emtively - if someone recreates this, we
speedy delete it, and consider protecting it, each time.

Comment - I am new here, so please don't bite :). I would delete both categories since there is only one article included, unless this guy made a lot of buildings that will be added. --

He did make a lot of buildings. Sometimes articles take a while to develop, especially since editors may be working on several at about the same time. For example, in working on
Wallack's Theatre (which has been in progress for months, on and off), I recently decided to create a page on one of the architects,
John M. Trimble, which I had been considering for some time. But over at the Commons, I have been categorizing his theaters for awhile:
Commons:Category:Theaters by John M. Trimble. Who knows where this is going? So far as I can tell, Trimble is an important figure in theater architecture of his period, but there isn't a lot published about him. I understand his granddaughter wrote an unpublished biography of him, and typescripts exist in two research libraries. If I read it, it might point me to additional sources (or not). But all articles and categories have to start somewhere. (Of course, some people work faster than others, and I'm not one of the fast ones.) By the way, as someone who has been here less than a year myself, I welcome you to the wonderful world of editing!

Good enough, that's I why I tempered my comment not knowing anything about the subject. Hopefully the category will get populated going forward. --
