Nominator's rationale: There are no abandoned "cities" in the Faroe Islands. Only villages.
Bobbymozza (
talk) 22:20, 8 August 2010 (UTC)reply
Rename. The note to the category states 'This category contains formerly inhabited communities of the Faroe Islands that are now only inhabited sporadically during the summer or that have been abandoned altogether.' How about
Category:Former populated places in the Faroe Islands.
Twiceuponatime (

Support provided that the introduction is rewritten to limit this to places no longer occupied. I moved out the one settlement that indicated there is a population.
Vegaswikian (

I'm confused. Wasn't there a "consensus" to replace all cities, villages etc. with "populated places"? even those that weren't populated for centuries?
East of Borschov 20:06, 9 August 2010 (UTC)reply
REname but to
Category:Deserted villages in the Faroe Islands. This may be compared with the well recognised term "Deserted Medieval Villages" used by English archaeologists. The three items listed are certainly not cities except in the US sense. The articles are not clear if they were towns or villages, but one had a population of 130, which is not even a village where I come from.

Question. I'm not clear on how broad this nomination is intended to be. Are all the categories for all the provinces involved? If so, they need to be tagged for renaming and listed here.

Category:Provinces by country which can be done at any time. This is the standard way of handling such category situations.

The result of the discussion was:rename. All work group categories seem to be unlabeled with "Wikipedia" or "WikiProject," and while I agree that seems out of character for such articles, they are consistent in this approach. A larger nomination would be needed to address this.--

Comment it should still say wikiproject or wikipedia to separate it from encyclopedic categorizations, if it isn't deleted.
