no consensus. This should not be brought forward again unless it is part of a nomination of all categories of fictional characters by descent. In the meantime, it might be helpful to build a visible hierarchy of those categories. –
keep. Delete !voters far outnumber keep !voters, but the nominator's blatant misrepresentation of
WP:SMALLCAT was accepted by most keep !voters, leaving their !votes ill-founded in policy. For the record,
WP:SMALLCAT's
current version says Avoid categories that, by their very definition, will never have more than a few members, unless such categories are part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme (underlining added by me)

Category:Operas set in Europe, because at the time of closure it only contains sub-categories and those are not directly in that parent. –
merge. The category currently has only two other specific sub-categories, not 30 as mentioned by the editor who objected, and he has not replied to the nominator's point about inclusion criteria. –
rename. There is a consensus that if the category is kept, it should be renamed. No consensus on @

DexDor's suggestion to delete, so feel free to open a new deletion discussion on the renamed category
speedy deleted as an empty category. There's no need for seven days of debate about a straightforward spelling error that the creator caught and corrected themself, when it can just be speedy deleted under at least two criteria (empty category and/or "Author requests deletion")
procedural close. The nom withdrew the original proposal, at which point this discussion should have been closed. Trying to use this discussion as the place for a different proposal involving different categories just makes a confused discussion. Feel free to open a new discussion about the new proposal
delete. CFD wasn't even really necessary, as empty categories can just be speedied so long as they weren't emptied out of process, but we are where we are

merge year categories in Russia before 1547 to century categories in Russia and to Europe categories. This consensus is without prejudice to further discussions. –
