We don't normally separate genders in categories. I agree that there may be some value in this, since famous female chess players are still relatively unusual, but I believe a list would be better suited. (I brought this up on
the talk page—one person agreed with me and one did not.) -

Delete. I'm a fan of chess and female chess players (since a lot of them are Hungarian), but I agree a list is probably better. -

Delete. Notable enough to put on a list, but I don't think we need to separate male and female chess players, in the categorization scheme. --

List and Delete Names will give away gender a lot of the time, a list can provide extra info in a better way (e.g. first female grandmaster), much rather have them separated by nationality.

Keep, notable and unique category. No need to make a Male chess player category as most people assume, rightly or wrongly, that chess players are male.

Delete (reluctant). While I can see the arguments keeping as a special case due to the overwhelming majority of male to female players, it is sexist and should be deleted. All players, regardless of gender should be in
Category:Chess players. Use a list instead for female chess players. As an aside, FIDE should get rid of the "Women" specific titles like WIM and WGM which gives women a unique status within the chess community.

Keep. I just used this category and I think that it might be useful.

Delete List instead.

Keep. While women can play chess in open tournaments, there is, indeed, in the chess world, a separate category for women; there are national women's championships as well as a world women's championship. As far as being sexist, that's a matter of interpretation, not a fact, but separation does reflect the reality of the chess world. Deleting this category would be little more than an exercise in denial. --
