Programming Language(s): Python / pywikipedia
Function Summary: Find photograph requests in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs that can be easily categorized, and place them in an appropriate subcategory.

Function Details: Category:Wikipedia requested photographs contains thousands of photograph requests. Most of these belong in a subcategory, and many of them can be categorized automatically. e.g. a photo request in {{ WikiProject Massachusetts}} really belongs in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Massachusetts. This bot will crawl Category:Wikipedia requested photographs and add parameters to {{ reqphoto}} when it finds articles that can be classified automatically.
A complete list of the rules this bot would use to categorize photo requests is at User:PhotoCatBot.
You're not going to get approval of 1 edit per second. 1) It isnt classed as an "urgent task", and 2) you probably cant edit at that rate anyway. Other than the edit rate, it sounds fine. Somewhere between 6-10 edits per minute would be much more reasonable. Reedy Boy 17:48, 14 August 2007 (UTC) reply
Trial away, maybe one edit every 60s or so for 50 edits. -- Tawker 18:10, 14 August 2007 (UTC) reply
FYI, the bot has completed 400 semiautomated edits now (in batches of 5-10 at a time, with my oversight). What's the next step? :-) Tim Pierce 15:27, 16 August 2007 (UTC) reply
