This is another searching nightmare due to a variety of Civil War references (particularly an officer in the Chickamauga campaign) but searching on "Sumanville" eventually came up with this short bit on the "town" which describes it as a "small station" on the B&O and remarks upon several failures to establish a store there. I found another reference to it as a station on the predecessor Ohio & Mississippi. It is still a point of the CSX mainline, but I find no real evidence of this as an actual town.
