This seems to be a term for a specific feature on a specific trail in the grand canyon. Despite the claim that is has been widely accepted by academics, there were no Google Scholar uses of the term in relation to geology, and the only other sources I could find for its use as a general term were either Wikipedia mirrors from the old version of this article that was deleted in 2008 or books from University of Northampton (where the term was coined).
