Delete -- It is so bad it is hardly even an essay. It is badly written. If it has been better, one might have considered merging it as a historiography section in
History of Africa article, but it is too dreadful for anything but deletion.

Keep I agree that this articles is poorly written, and needs more sources. But I don't think that's a reason to delete it, it just needs to be improved. There are a lot of other articles on misconceptions about various topics. I'm sure that a competent expert can easily find sources that give this articles its requisite notability. I've added a template saying the article is in need of an expert to improve it.
