What does GNIS error have to do with Wikipedia? Nothing, actually. Wikipedia does not base it's entries on whether GNIS is correct or not and shouldn't since it is completely independent of it's sources & references.

My apologies, in this case it looks like someone misinterpreted a census precinct rather than a GNIS entry as an unincorporated community. –

Comment. Looking at historic maps of this area might be helpful. Many rural areas lost population as farming grew increasingly mechanized and capital-intensive. Eastmain (
